Safely back from hospital after a bout of pneumonia followed by pleurisy. Feeling weak but much better, helped by your comforting messages! 😀. I’ve been on nearly double dosage - from 8mgs to 15mgs - for a week now. Do you think it best to drop to 12mgs for a couple of days, then ten, then eight. Or could I just go back to 8mgs in one swoop?! Thanks! 🌺

Normally we would probably say you could do it in one swoop, or maybe two stages, but in your case with what’s gone on, it would be more sensible to take smaller steps.
What you suggest, does sound more achievable….with maybe 2-4 days at each step, depending on how you feel. Maybe 5 days at 10, before you drop to 8mg.
Thanks - just the advice I needed. You sometimes feel that you’re treading a pathway in a dark forest with all sorts of possible other pathways you could take. Argh! 😅
Hi, hope you’re feeling better 💐You’ve been pretty poorly & a sudden drop back down might not be the best idea, did they not make any suggestions when they discharged you?
DorsetLady has made some good suggestions re dose, obviously your chest has been affected so l concur slower might be easier on you.
Very helpful, thanks. My instinct is to reduce by steps as I have been a bit felled (back to trees again! Bonkers! 😅). But not to take excessively long about it. I’ve only just seen my cheekbones again! 😀
Depends on you and the continuing effect of being ill. But you don't get over pneumonia and pleurisy in five minutes - I think you may need a bit longer at more than you were at before, not too long of course.
When my Mum went on to Hydrocortisone to maintain her adrenal function after she had an Addisons Crisis whenever she had a Chest Infection the Doctor always gave her Prednisolone on a Tapering Schedule after the initial higher dose & it was so much easier as it was separate from the HC so there was no confusion.
