I decided to try 8mgs this morning and have to say I have felt better in myself. I have no idea whether it is helping hips/legs/ back as currently they definitely are painful and buttocks as well. Not from PMR! Hubby decided to be helpful this morning and do some gardening. I don’t really like him doing any as he doesn’t know a weed from a flower, and if something has no leaves it’s dead as far as he’s concerned, even if it’s only dormant. However I let him as I needed to get some new plants in and thought he couldn’t go wrong. When I went out after about 30 minutes to see how he was getting on, I found him sitting on the ground. A nightmare if he falls as he has arthritic knees and no upper body strength since having encephalitis. Eventually with the help of a garden kneeler and a kick stool I managed to get him to his feet. He’s unhurt, but my back is complaining. Hopefully it will have eased tomorrow. Guess who put the plants in?
Update from yesterday’s post!: I decided to try... - PMRGCAuk
Update from yesterday’s post!
I knew my limits - OH was 50kg soaking wet on a fat day and I couldn't get him up if he fell. The paramedics knew us by name!
He’d probably still be out there if I’d called them. Next door neighbour would have been called if I hadn’t managed it.
We haven't got to that stage yet, quick responses still and we had an alarm run by the volunteer charity that provides patient transport. He fell at about 3am one night before we had the alarm and the obnoxious Italian who was on the call centre said I should get neighbours in!! But that isn't safe, even the paramedics struggled to lift him as he was almost dead weight, couldn't help at all. I told them what the call handler had said and they were mortified. Not long before he died I needed them for me - massive tachycardia, blue lights to hospital and I won the emergency duty doc and his team plus 2 ambulances, The doc and his nurse dealt with me, everyone else visited OH and our daughters who were providing end of life care and offered assistance there.
Doubt we’d get that sort of response here. I still find it amazing that since being diagnosed I have had two telephone appointments after the initial one. No blood tests since last year, but they just fill my repeat prescriptions when I ask.
Reminds me of the number of times I had to haul my late husband up when he fell, he had arthritis in hips and knees and weighed a lot more than me; luckily I had adrenal glands that worked then so managed. You have my sympathy having to lift him while suffering with PMR!
