Still having difficulty sleeping due partly to pred I presume and also gastric problems (appointment with gastroenterologist tomorrow) . I do have zopoclone sleeping tablets and have taken one per night for 2 nights but reluctant to take more as know they’re are addictive . Could valerian be an alternative?

A good approach with sleeping tablets is to not take them on consecutive nights but occasionally to break the pattern of not sleeping. Quite a few people have found various OTC sleep aids have helped but it does vary from person to person which works best so you have to experiment a bit,

stlukes-stl.com/health-cont...

mentions statins - but not corticosteroids.

Many thanks I will follow that advice re not consecutive nights hoping this is just temporary. Also thanks for link looks like valerian is worth a go .

There's lots of advice on line for sleep training. Lavender oil is helpful too. Unfortunately steroids mess with our sleep pattern so try to avoid computers and tv at bedtime. Try reading or knitting.

I have a cup of tea from valerian leaves every evening n certainly no bad side effects and I think it helps me go to sleep. The taste might seem strange for some people though!

I also drink tea with valerian in it every night. It seems to help me sleep better.

I also use zopiclone and have found 1/4 cup tart cherry juice gives really good sleep.
