That is a lot better than my results after the AstraZeneca. My results were just 12.9 U/ml. That was 7 weeks after my second jab and I was on 13mg of pred. Makes me feel quite vulnerable being so low compared to others.
Experts have said there is not necessarily a direct link between the level of antibodies and the level of protection. Antibodies aren't everything. But continuing with sensible behaviour does make a lot of sense.
Yes I'm trying to still be very careful I've barely left the house since the first lockdown just for my vaccine but I want to see my family without constantly worrying. I was so happy to have the vaccine but now it's so disheartening to think it might not make any difference because of the steroids.
It might - but the main effect of the vaccination for us is that it should make our environment safer ONCE everyone else is vaccinated and the infection rate falls. I've been out but not any closer to people than I have to be simply because I have had to shop, it was that or starve, no online food shopping here. Masks are compulsory here - and even when that is lifted I shan't be changing that either nor going inside bars or restaurants. We just have to wait a bit longer - and our families have to step up for us too and have their jabs and not spend time in crowds.
Yes I know what you mean I will still be wearing a mask everywhere I go which won't be far for a while yet. My kids have had their first vaccine but it's still a worry that the grandchildren can pick it up in school and I have eleven grandchildren, two have had the virus so should have antibodies. I have no intention either of going inside bars or restaurants I don't see any need for non essential risks right now.
I think it is beginning to sink in to the government that children might not get ill but they are an inherent part of spreading the virus within the family - which was what a lot of us were saying anyway.
Think of the money we'll save - can afford a better bit of steak and bottle of wine
There’s a publication by Roche helping us make sense of the results. If I can find the link I’ll add it later. It says 0.8 or less U/ml is negative, values above are all positive. Looking at the table I can see there’s a standard distribution for the frequency / U/ml.
Degree of protection is more than B cells, T cells are equally important but the commercial test we’re offered doesn’t measure these.
Hopefully we will have a booster jab in the autumn, starting with the most vulnerable.
I was desperate to get an Antibody Test after my 2nd Jab because l’m on MTX as well but have now decided that the result won’t make any difference (except to my pocket 😉) as l am continuing to be cautious, l wear a mask 😷 when out n about which is mainly the Garden Centre 🌺 & that’s out doors.....I can’t say l’m awfully keen on the idea of going into a Restaurant or Pub anyway, l think it will take a lot of confidence building to meet indoors for me anyway.
We are/were bubbled with our grandaughter but she is now out n about more with her parents so l am somewhat uneasy - more garden time l think.....
