Antibody test

Just to let yogabonnie and any others who are interested know, that I was offered an antibody test a few weeks ago by the National Child Development Study team that I'm involved with. The results came back today and despite being on 10mg of prednisolone the report said, 'Your blood test showed a clearly detectable level of antibodies against the virus that causes covid-19'. I feel quite reassured to hear that so hope it helps others to also.

PS. SHOULD ALSO ADD I'VE ONLY HAD MY FIRST VACCINATION TOO!

hooray!!! I am going to ASSUME I have antibodies!!! I will be careful...but I will feel safer! thanks. I was on 5mg. the last year. been on 15 down to 2 up to 7 down to 5..for 3.5 years..and went to 10 right after the shot for only a week. Cheering!!! thanks!

Excellent news. It seems that in Canada the sickness and death toll in long term care homes has plummeted since the aged were vaccinated, so it goes to show even the immune compromised, as many aged are (I'm talking over 80 as well as some younger) are benefiting from the vaccines. Hope for us.

I was taking 9mg prednisolone when I was given the Oxford vaccination. I tested positive for antibodies too.

Great news and after 1st only as well. I feel reassured' I know we are all different but I'm also on 10mg, and just started MTX. Had second jab on Monday.

Definitely feel much less vulnerable but still intend to continue observing all safety guidance that I've been doing so far.

Terrific! Me too! On 8 Pred when tested. Did the LloydsPharmacy UK antibody test, tested positive for them and have a lot of them, actually more than my Type 1 diabetic son and 86 year old husband! Lloyds give you the actual numbers.

However my friend who has been on anti cancer drugs for years was positive but had a very low reading.

It is so reassuring after all we have read about steroids lowering our immune response to the vaccine, although as PMRpro says—- we must still be careful. X
