Storing Prednisolone

I sometimes wonder about this - the information on the packet says store below 25degrees - not always easy in very hot weather and presumably effects efficacy if not stored correctly?

Where do you keep your Pred? Where do you live?

We did have some very warm weather in the U.K. - when temperatures were up in the 30’s. I asked the pharmacist and she said if it was kept in a drawer it should be OK. I still don’t know if that is correct, but I keep mine in a wooden drawer. I never had any problems. Luckily, we don’t have temperatures like that very often. Where are you?

I am in the UK. We do occasionally get some very warm weather but not many of us have air conditioning. I know it is generally not a big problem but have been concerned on occasion in the past. Keep all my medications in a cupboard in the bedroom.

It might be worth asking your pharmacist and see if you get the same answer as me. Then we can feel more relaxed about it!

..... if the answer is the same of course!

I am in the Uk too and have always kept my prednisolone in a container in my kitchen cupboard.

In Hong Kong summer temperature averages are above 30C with relative humidity above 80%. Yes, we have aircon but it's not on all the time, such as when out at work or away from home for a few days. My pred was never affected.

Maybe rduce the number of tabs you keep at home in the summer and ask GP to reduce repeat prescriptions. If this means more visits to the pharmacy, many now do deliveries. It's not a problem I've thought about I must admit!

Sorry that should have said less tabs per prescription! Today's hot weather has scuppeted my brain!!

I have a sealed ice pack that I put in our medicine cabinet when the days are above 25. I have two so I can alternate them.

I have not faced temperatures of over 25 yet. My pills are kept in a dark cupboard. I guess moving them to a refrigerator will be a good idea if temperatures soar. Thank you for the alert.

Be careful of putting it in a fridge - and absolutely NOT a freezer! The tablets must be kept dry and being in a cooled environment can cause condensation.
