Cut your carbohydrate intake considerably - especially processed foods and added sugar. For a lot more discussion do have a look at the list of Related Posts because this is something that is asked about every few days

This site is a good introduction to the basics of lower carb eating:

Going to the PMRGCAuk forum homepage will let you scroll back through past posts - there were some very good ones in the last few weeks.

AsPMRPro says, cut those carbs a lot. Healthy diet only doesn’t cut it with Pred for most people. I didn’t put on any weight by doing this, even on high doses, but Pred does cause what fat you do have to sit round the middle, face, the neck and upper back/bottom of neck. The arms and legs often go a bit spindly to add to it. So your Pred shape may be there to stay for a while longer but you can control how much sits there. Also, salt and Pred don’t mix, causing fluid retention especially above 10mg. Once you get under about 7/8mg you may need a bit of salt to support your body if it struggles with low adrenal function for a bit.

Thanks, I know steroids can redistribute body fat but I go blindly on eating cakes, biscuits, etc my diet has definitely not been healthy🙄

Pred increases the boom and bust of blood sugar which makes one crave sugary things until you get off the rollercoaster and your blood sugar swings stabilise. Just don’t buy these things, takes away the temptation.

I have just been told I am prediabetic, it focuses the mind, I am really trying to cut the carbs now. Managed to lose 7lbs since March, have a naughty day occasionally, but then back on track. Don't need Diabetes as well!

When you say carbs does that include pasta as well as bread?

Absolutely I am afraid !! Substitute grated cauliflower (or you can blitz it) for rice and courgetti for spaghetti. Enjoy.

Anything that is carbohydrate must be counted - and that includes fruit and root veg. They may be "healthy" carbs, but for the purpose of this exercise they are carbs.

This site has easy to use picture guides of what is OK and what should be restricted:

I am on the Michael Mosley 800 for 12 weeks, it's low (no carb) for 12 weeks. Then Mediterranean style, low carb. No processed flour or sugar. Having no sugar/treats has reduced my symptoms of fatigue, aches and very low mood. It's like a miracle, I don't crave fast food anymore. He's on TV tonight think Ch4 good luck x

My endocrinologist prescribed liraglutide for me and I have lost 11kg since Jan. I have another 10kg to lose to get back to my pre steroid weight but this drug has helped me. webmd.com/drugs/drugreview-...

Hi what is Liraglutide please ?

I have had great success with the keto diet, as stated, basically cut out most carbs (easier said than done I'm afraid). I've been on pred. for over 6 years and during the last 6 months dieting I have lost over 12kgs. There's a wealth of info on the web. I recommend Dietdoctor.com.

I have lost 15 Ibs in 3 months on low carb but haven’t lost an inch from my abdomen. Very frustrating. I think sometimes it’s a matter of waiting until your pred dose is lower.

Oh dear I'm only on 2mg !!!

Have faith, it will go eventually. I have no muscles left because of abdominal surgery but I wish I could loose a bit round my waist. I have skinny arms and legs. I think I am turning into a spider 🤣🤣
