slow taper

Good news ! I have just had a really useful phone appointment with a rheumatologist locum, who was enthusiastic about the idea of a dead slow taper along DL lines. Maybe the message is getting through, at least a little bit.

Hopefully! My GP had never heard of slow tapers before but since I showed him the DorsetLady excel spreadsheet he’s a convert.

Good morning DorsetLady, please can you attach the link to your excel spreadsheet 👍👍👍 This forum is BRILLIANT. After 3 weeks of my daily dose of Prednisolone 15mg the debilitating muscle pain, exhaustion, depression have disappeared. I can now do yoga, dance and Kettlebells with ease and full flexibility, and my mental and emotional state is so much better 🙏🙏🙏 BUT, I know that the Prednisolone Tapering programme when I have my next review with KB (the wonderful Clinical Nurse who immediately put me on the road to recovery with the diagnosis of PMR in April.... yes, it is still early days!) will be a gradual process. Thank you once again for the wisdom and support that exudes from this excellent forum for so many of us coming to terms and dealing with PMR.

As time goes on, do be careful with the kettlebells because the soft tissues around the joints do become more delicate and can be damaged more easily.

Thank you for your prompt, consistent, sage advice and support. Regarding Kettlebells, I have reduced the weight to 4KG, which is more than manageable.

In yesterday's yoga class, I floated down to my hands being flat on the floor alongside my feet in the Sun Salutations. Before the diagnosis and Prednisolone medication, I could not lift my arms, get past my knees when doing a forward bend and many more postures were impossible. Consequently, yesterday's yoga class where I felt like my Pre PMR self was bliss and quite emotional.

I am delighted that so many of you on this wonderful forum are explaining that it is nigh on impossible to deal with PMR without Prednisolone.

Kindest regards from England to Italy.
