Understanding DL's Slow Taper Plan

Good evening lovely people. I think I'm being a bit thick!

I've been on 4mgs for 6 weeks and was going to go to 3.5 mgs for 6 weeks. And then 3.0 etc and so forth. I printed off DL's chart earlier this year but didn't get round to using it, with other issues which Rheumy/I now believe are not PMR related. [MRI next week for sciatica type pains in both thighs - probably skeletal). Results will be in 4 weeks minimum. She is happy for me to reduce slowly, but I forgot to mention DL's taper plan which previous posts suggest works for most.

If I choose the 7 week plan

Week one - is it 3.5mgs on day one (blue square) and 4mgs on day two to seven?

Week two - 3.5 on day one. 4mgs for days two to four. 3.5 for day five. 4mgs for days six to seven?

And so on till week 7...

If all is good, does my NEW dose in 8 weeks time become 3 and my old 3.0?

Have I understood it correctly?

I'm hoping I've answered my own question!

Don't want to get it wrong even if I am being a bit slow.

Thank you all

First taper you have described correctly….old [or current dose if it makes it easier to understand] is 4mg, new dose 3.5mg

Next one - think you’ve misprinted…old dose will be 3.5mg and new dose 3mg

Thank you DL. It was only when I started typing that I thought I made sense of it. It's been a very long day!And yes, you're right re the 3.5/3.0 next one.

If you print off either an excel or word copy -if you want either I can email -but you’ll need to send me a chat message -don’t put email address on open forum -it’s easier to follow… 😊
