Has anyone had any experience with taking Eliquis (blood thinner) alongside Prednisone?
I am on 5mg Pred. since March and feel good on this dose. Then mid April I was diagnosed with a DVT after a knee injury kept me immobile for a week or so.
Now have returned back to some of my earlier issues with lowering of energy levels, lightheaded and low blood pressure during the mornings between 11 and midday.

I was on prednisone for 14 months and have been on Eliquis for a some time as well as other heart meds. The only problem I found was issues with bleeding. A paper cut caused bleeding which was a surprise to me. I also had some of the symptoms you describe but I think it is the prednisone not Eliquis. The prednisone caused a lot of harm to my body. Because I have GCA and was having vision issues I was started on 60 mg. I hope never to have to go back on it. Wishing you get better soon.
I was on rivaroxaban which is similar. I was a bit worried that as on the data sheet the first side effect was death, but otherwise no problems and I am still alive, I think!
I was just trying to show how data sheets can be frightening with what they say, even though you have a chance of one in a million of it happening to you. I was tested the other day for DVT and I showed a positive d-dimer on my blood test, but it seems it was OK thank goodness.
I have just stopped. When I first got them my sister was reading out the side effects to see if I could drink alcohol with them! We roared with laughter at the death one which was first, but I could drink alcohol so what the heck!
Are you on any other medications? There is no interaction between apixaban and pred - though that doesn't mean taking them together might disagree with some. And it may be coincidence and the apixaban is causing the feelings
I was thinking maybe putting one more drug into my body was upsetting the Cortisol yet again. Other meds include Candesartan (BP) and Relvar (Asthma) which up to now have not caused any problems.
Have contacted my Doctor who has replied by email that I should try lowering my BP meds first. If no change then we can discuss other medication for DVT. Thank you all for your input.
