Fruitful visit with endocrinologist

Friday I consulted a new endocrinologist who trained at an endocrine center in NY. Fortunately her office is not very far. I was impressed with the way she listened to me, asked me questions and then gave me recommendations regarding diet. She asked me actually what I usually ate, what I liked, what would work for me to keep my blood sugar from going down too far. An interesting thing was that she will still try to have a taper my prednisone but only after I regulate my blood sugar. She placed a glucose monitor for 24 hour- one that measures my blood sugar around the clock. She said in this way I would be able to see how my eating habits affect the lows of my blood sugar. We talked about adrenal function after polymyalgia and the tapering program. She suggested that once I keep my blood sugar from going down to low I will feel better with tapering. She mentioned that being on prednisone affects many organ systems and that they have to be re regulated. She also said that if I get down to 2 1/2 mg or so that there’s nothing wrong with that if I cannot go any further. It would just be my maintenance dose. I am actually thrilled about this this lady and I am looking forward to working with her because she listens, she makes sense. Since I already had reactive hypoglycemia before PMR ; the hypoglycemia that often goes with low adrenal function is more problematic for me.

DadCue I have none of this and I’m not looking for another disease. I turn 79 this month with a cluster of symptoms consistent with advancing age.
