last week I had my second astra zeneca Vaccine with no side effects and did a 6 mile walk 2 days later. currently weaning from 9mgs to 8 using DSNS method.
Today celebrating 46 years of marriage and feeling very fortunate despite PMR.
I have always had most of my pain in my upper body and so lucky i have been able to continue walking increasing amounts over the last year.

They say that the side effects with Astra Zeneca are worse for the first vaccine and vice versa for Pfizer. Although some people have no side effects for either.
Interesting that I felt a bit rough for a day after the first Pfizer vaccine but nothing after the second one which I had yesterday. Maybe aches and pains will show up in the next day or two?
Had the first Pfizer end of January, had severe headache and hurting arm,for about 2 days, had Aches and pain for about a week. Second dose, had a severe headache a day before, and had my arm was hurting for a week, my arm still hurts, it's been about 6 weeks.
Congratulations on your anniversary .💐I can’t get over you being able to walk that far, since I’ve been diagnosed with GCA / PMR my fitness is non existent, I do keep trying but it just won’t pick up, I used to be very fit but that’s all gone, it does upset me terribly.
So sorry to hear about your lack of mobility. A friend of mine is in the same position after 4 years of PMR. Everyone is different but we can always live in hope that the disease will eventually burn itself out and go into remission. I think I am just lucky but am well aware that my luck may run out with this generally unpredictable illness. I do take high strength curcumin tablets and include lots of anti-inflammatory foods into my diet but not sure whether that makes any difference. I was diagnosed fairly quickly last June and started on 22mgs of Pred to control the inflammation. Although now on 9mgs my body is telling me no more tapering for a bit yet. I also, most days, go to bed for an afternoon siesta for an hour which seems to help a bit.I sincerely hope you improve slowly............all the best to you
Probably the best thing right now is to take short walks, possibly even the kind which allows you to sit for a rest at the furthest point, and not even try to compare yourself with how you used to be. Even maintaining what fitness you still have will be a good thing. Problem is we are inclined to want to do what we used to, and then we set ourselves back by attempting too much! At least that's how it's been with me this past year as I recovered from an injured knee. it wasn't until I changed my behaviour that things began to improve. Still not back to where I was a year ago (have had PMR since about 2014) but now at a level which makes me much happier. Funny how little it takes to cheer one up these days.
Yes I agree, yesterday I done quite a bit around the house, hoovering ,a bit of baking, changing the sheets and so on, today I can really feel it, but I did go for my walk, no great length but to me it’s better than nothing. I don’t think I’ll ever get back to my original fitness, I except this, but some form of fitness would be nice.Today I’m really struggling with arm and shoulder pain, I can hardly lift them to put the kettle on 🙁
I actually completely understand. Have a bad shoulder myself at the moment, but I put that down to too much "mousework" - in other words sitting in a bad position with my laptop. Feels okay at the time, but later get excruciating sharp pains in the shoulder. Serves me right. Today afflicted arm is propped up so no weight dragging on shoulder and hope it helps. And we must keep our arms in good enough shape to lift a kettle!
jinasc has a wonderful device - boils water, you place the cup or teapot under the spout and press a button to dispense the freshly boiled water! I have a pull out tap so I only need to lift the kettle to tip water out but even that is getting a bit much ...
I had mine 9 days ago and still got a banging headache that came on an hour after vaccine. After first vaccine had night time headache for two nights only. Had the Oxford jab.
Well done and congratulations on your anniversary! I got my first jab of Moderna last week and was all set for some side effects. Nothing at all happened and I eventually went for a 5k walk later that day. Other than a sore arm, neither myself or himself had any ill effects. I’ve heard the second dose might cause a slight fever, still, a small price to pay for protection.
