What class are they? Where is the aching?

Class 1, just above ankle on the outside

It could be that you need to get used to them a bit more gradually and new ones can be quite stiff. It might be that actually you need a higher class because the class 1 can’t hold the buildup of fluid that accumulates through the day. They mustn’t be allowed to wrinkle round the ankles either. Is one side worse than the other pain wise and are your legs swelling more one one side than the other? Sizing is a bit hit and miss if one ankle is bigger than the other the stockings can be incorrect for one side, especially if the a measurement is at the far end of the range. What do your toes look like, in colour, when you take them off?

At least with socks/stockings you can buy a pair of each size ;)

I’m interested because l have just started with one slightly swollen ankle and lower leg. I didn’t realise this could be due to PMR, which l have had for nearly 7 years. On the advice of my GP I’ve been raising the leg, and drinking a lot, and it is coming down. The lower leg is still a bit red , warm and tender to touch. I think it is oedema- is that what karenwelsh has?

I had swollen ankles, one side worse than the other - I had a single session of manual lymph drainage and it had an amazing effect! He just concentrated on the worse side but both sides improved in days and I have never had it again. Water tablets didn't have any effect at all.

Has the GP SEEN the leg? It worries me a bit that it is sore, red and warm. It could be cellulitis so if it stays the same - and obviously if it gets worse - get someone to eyeball it, A&E if necessary.

No mine is just aching just above the ankle. I agree u should get it seen as it red and warm, even if gp says it nothing
