Sounds like it’s a bit grim again ☹️. When you say 8 to 7 steroids a day, I’m assuming you mean 7-8mg. How did you reduce, as in what steps? Don’t forget you’re only 8 months in and this is condition is usually active for more than a year.

Did you get your sore white mouth diagnosed last time? It could be thrush or possible Lichen Planus. mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...

Have you spoken to the doc about this to rule out something else going on, on top. Also, have you been tested for Covid?

I find it impossible to reduce by 1mg under 10mg, I just go for 0.5mg. Have you tried that?

Piglette I totally agree.

Best way to decrease. That’s how I’ve been going for months. I’m now on 3mg. 👏

I have just got to 2mg this week. I only have coated 1mg tablets so a bit worried about the next reduction of 50%.

Can you get some uncoated 1mg as well? That way you can cut the uncoated in half so you can reduce to 1.5, one coated and a half uncoated. That's what I'm doing at the moment and it's working pretty well. I asked my rheumy about taking mixed pills like this, as I know from this forum that the body absorbs the uncoated pred faster, but he assured me that it would be OK. And on such a low dose I don't think I'm noticing it. I take both together at the same time.

Same as Piglette says try .5mg reduction. I can’t reduce more than that on those doses. Withdrawal symptoms are unbearable. It’s too big a drop and you have reduced quite quickly since diagnosis. Probably time to stay on the dose that you’re pain free in for a little while longer to let your body settle. See your GP re your mouth.

Would agree with the .5mg reduction. I have had to do this from 12mg. My body doesn’t take too kindly to tapering but very few problems when I increase. 😬💐

Hi. It is really important to keep one's mouth free of infection. I really recommend this mouthwash with neem oil and also you can buy toothpast to match! It has kept oral infection really down for me. baldwins.co.uk/theraneem-na...
