Would this condition have any effect on my PMR?

Hi everyone, I have just learnt that my sister has been diagnosed with hereditary hemochromatosis. I wondered if when tested for the same condition what effects of this high iron storage would affect my PMR if any should I have it too. Many thanks.

I suppose it could contribute to some of the symptoms - fatigue, aching joints, loss of weight are all symptoms in both.

Never hurts to wonder and hope!!! Mind you, treating it takes a while - about a year usually. Have you got the skin colouration? Did your sister? Why did they investigate?

Have you been diagnosed with hemochromatosis? You can adjust your ferritin levels with diet which can help.

Thank you everyone for your comments. My sister is a nurse and looked after my mother for some time and found out after she had passed away that mum had this condition. Unfortunately, my sister did not follow this up until recently after experiencing bouts of fatigue and her test results pointed out that she too had it.I have just found this out and am in the process of getting appointment to see if I also have the condition. It has taken 2 months to get the results.

hello, did you find out if you also have hemochromatosis? My husband also has hemochromatosis and recently developed PMR.
