Quite a few of you are experiencing intermittent "Bad Gateway 504" or 504 Gateway Timeout" error messages throughout the site. HealthUnlocked technical team are aware of this and working on it.

I'll let you know when there is any update to this. Bug fixes can take a little while to resolve but hopefully this will be sorted soon.

I have experienced this several times, but refreshing the tab in my browser has made it go away each time.

Hi everyone, the 504 & 502 gateway error messages are fixed! HealthUnlocked did have to roll back a few product fixes to find and implement the fix which means that you might see something strange with paragraphs again this week and they are now working on that....

Fran

The paragraphs have been crackers for a few weeks now - so why don't they check their "fixes" have fixed whatever it was they are aimed at rather than making it worse!!!

Fran_Benson profile image
Fran_BensonPartner in reply toPMRpro

The fixes obviously caused the 504 error and so now they have had to undo them to sort the 504 issue which then undoes those fixes. It's a frustrating process but unfortunately it's the way IT tends to work :( Hopefully the paragraph issue is less serious than the 504 one but yes I'm afraid everyone has to be patient...

It is quite extraordinary in 2021 and an active Internet for several decades now that every site seems to have to reinvent the wheel. Patient forum is now pretty well defunct solely because of ill-advised technical changes a couple of years ago. it used to be my preferred forum until then, and now I only come here. I would hate to see IT wreck this one too. Old adage, "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

Can only agree - without the patient.info forum this forum would never have come into being, come to that, neither would the charity itself. They introduced all sorts of silly changes in the name of being modern and appealing and eventually killed the forum. They never asked the users - just assumed everyone was a teenage whizz-kid. They asked after the event - and then ignored every single request we made. And the final straw came when newcomers (Covid related) last year complained about the number of email notifications they were receiving - so they stopped ALL notifications except for direct replies to you personally, not even that there was a new post on your forum. Then they made it even more difficult to log on.

I found after quite a long time that one day I finally had to create my secret word. I used it once, and since then apparently my device remembers it and I don't have to do anything. I can't imagine the additional nuisance of having to use it every time a person logged on, especially now that the only people who show up are innocent newbies. I am, btw, also permanently logged into Patient, never have to use password. Thank you Windows 10 I guess! Occasionally I find a hapless soul waiting for a reply for a day or two and tend to direct them here, as do one or two others who check in from time to time - less and less frequently.

Which when you think about it totally negates the point of the special word? I was also permanently logged on - until recently when I was then logged out after so many days, another new feature.

Yes I HAVE had, a few, experiences of this...... BUT mu 'now rather old' system gives Errors sometimes anyway. I was actually In The Process, of getting a new PC.... when the First 'Lockdown' Struck. I also have to be VERY Careful, so I might be 'Stuck' with this PC for a while longer..... At least the Connection SPEED is Good (fast).

You can do no more, really, than make sure you keep your browser updated, and also install security updates from whatever operating program you use. The real problem happens when the updates are more than an old device can handle. Hope you aren't there yet?

My System is about Five years old but Wasn't 'Top Of The Range' then.. it Does have LOADS on 'Memory' though.... so it WILL Remember me 'Slagging It Off'!!!!

Seriously though It's just a bit 'Slow', doesn't have much RAM... and has a Slow Video Processor'. Unlike my Mothers System which, I believe, Noah was using......! (The Engineer, who last came to look at it.... some years back, confided in me, along the lines of 'Get Her A New(er) System...

Hi Fran. I was getting similar messages today on some links ... but the number isn’t 504 it’s 400!? Can you check it out please? Thanks , Susan

To report things you click on Report on the post/reply that is the problem. This generates a report that also goes to HU as well as Fran who doesn't work every day. You can also report by sending an email with the details to Support - scroll down th page to the black strap line at the bottom where it says Support and then Contact Us. That generates a email box

I’ve reported but this is what I’ve got back

“Hi there,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing. We are aware of a few technical issues like what you have described.

To ensure you have the best experience whilst spending time on HealthUnlocked, please delete the app and sign in through a web browser.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Best wishes,

Hema”

It really doesn’t help me - we have building work going on so there’s often someone in my study or banging and producing dust etc in or near there so I use my phine and spend my days moving to the most peaceful area I can find. The browser on the computer isn’t really a viable option at the moment 🙄

Hi,

I have the APP & the Desktop Version on my phone, the App is an easier read & quick reply but you can’t add or open links, add photos or underline/bold etc

I have to go on to the Desktop Version of the Website if l want to do anything other than the basics but it’s a pain as l have to Sign In Every Time, l’ve got Log In & Password ‘Saved’ but it’s still a nuisance that’s sometimes why l say, l’ll add a Link later......

Hi Susan, it seems that there is a very occasional blip with the app that might be causing your issue. If you have to keep using your tablet/phone and not your computer and this error is still occurring on the app (and I'm not expecting a resolution soon) I would suggest that you use your browser on the device you're using and access the HU site that way.

I use my phone a lot for accessing HU but always do it through the browser and not the app.

Hope that helps for now.
