The Perrin Technique - A new look at some auto-immune diseases

This looks a really interesting approach that may impinge on the treatment of PMR. Dr Perrin is a cranial osteopath( theperrintechnique.com/ ) who has been working on this material for some time. I would be interested in the responses of the more medically astute on the forum. This is an interview with the journalist James Delingpole who has found the technique/approach works for his ME:

Your link doesn't work so I can't appraise it at all.

I looked at the website link and it tell you nothing - except to suggest that the greatest benefit may well be to Dr Perrin's bank balance as is often the case with alternative approaches to most medical problems. If it promises miracles - you are likely to be disappointed.

I'm immediately prejudiced against this as it's evidently endorsed by James Delingpole, who rejects the science behind man-made global warming and has said that ''hanging is too good'' for certain scientists that he disagrees with.

Really broadminded guy then ;) Never heard of him!

Looked him up - no wonder, wouldn't read those rags if you paid me!

Yep. Me too. Also an anti masker. One of these ones who goes into supermarkets without a mask and takes a selfie then tweets about it... Some of his nonsensical claims about masks were fact checked by the Ferret and found to be completely wrong (surprise surprise).

I hadn't kept up with his latest idiocy, but I've had a look and it only confirms my strong conviction that anything he supports must be dodgy. Title of one of his recent articles: ''Mask Non-Compliance Is a Moral Duty''.

Just look at his educational history ...

My children used to go to the Osteopathic Centre for Children which helped lots with headaches and earaches. However, cranial osteopathy will not work for PMR, even I know that.

I was interested when I read about it being useful for ME as a good friend has severe ME/CFS. I pinged the info over to her and she said that she has heard of him, but never used him. However, she did say that her osteopath does do cranial osteopathy which she finds helpful. So that might be worth passing on to any contacts with ME

Thank you for your reasoned reply Lauterbach. I am disappointed with everyone else's response. Delingpole is not on trial here - I am just attempting to present the work of Dr Perrin who has been working in this field for 30 years and with some success. Perrin makes no claims that it is a cure all. No-one has given any critique here - and who can say that the medical way of healing is exactly fast (viz this forum) or that anyone has really properly diagnosed the cause of PMR? Costs for the treatment (having checked it out locally) is no more than what you might pay for a massage or acupuncture - both of which seem to be approved of here.

As I explained, we can't give a critique of something about which we can see no information. And they don't appear eager to disseminate their beliefs otherwise.

Well there is the website which I posted at the start of the post (see under "About"); there you can find some work that was published in the BMJ on the technique: bmjopen.bmj.com/content/bmj... I don't think you can relegate this research to "beliefs". If anyone is interested then they can do some more research themselves. I am just introducing his work.

I did look for information and concluded they wanted money for it. A a quick glance, the paper is basically about how experience of the technique improved someone's diagnostic skills - that isn't the same as a successful treatment regimen,

interestingly for a couple of years before GCA cranial osteopathy suddenly made me feel concussed and I could no longer tolerate it. My osteo learned to just not go there.
