Immune disorders new research

Some time ago I posted a link to an interview where a researcher expressed optimism that research into the effects of SARS-CoV-2 on the immune system could result in more knowledge to help people suffering from other immune-connected diseases (like PMR and GCA).

There was another interview recently which shows that this type of research is indeed going on. We need not be dismayed by so much energy being spent on learning more about this recent addition to diseases afflicting humans, but encouraged that there will be spin-off benefits generally applicable to a multitude of autoimmune conditions.

So sad for the young girl in the clip. Perhaps "long covid" was the ultimate goal of those who created this virus in the first place.

People diss Twitter (now known as X) but there is a community of covid aware people on there unmatched anywhere else, including researchers. Among the people I follow are some with LC. Also because news isn't blocked there for Canadians like it is on other social media platforms one can read about the latest findings, get orders of magnitude more information from credible sources than anything the local news outlets usually give us.

But how sure are you the sources are reliable?

I only follow those who are reliable. They put enough info into their bio if they are authentic. I always promptly mute or block anyone who is trolling, usually in replies to someone else, so my feed is clean. Being a nobody I'm not interesting or influential enough to have been discovered by bad lot!

Oh, and related to this is the fact that our PH has been basically AWOL for about 18 months, only coming out of their cave to drop another protection or to let us know when there's another vaccine we can get. Then they wonder why there's so little uptake on the vaccines - because most of the population has had a recent infection and has to wait so many months to be eligible for vax they get sick again, so they can never get a vax. They persist in ignoring the benefit of N95 or equivalent masking in public spaces and are still intent on having hand sanitizer in schools and wiping down surfaces, but doing nothing at all to make sure there is fresh air. The irony of them suggesting we wear N95 to protect against wildfire smoke rather than the surgical masks "everyone" uses for covid was not lost on me. Unfortunately most of the people do not know that they have been severely let down by a political agenda that wanted everyone back at work, eating in restaurants, and welcoming thousands of tourists. It would have been so simple to maintain a mask mandate. My life is far more restricted now than it was in 2021 so I am, I was going to say irritated, but actually I'm angry, not only for myself but also on behalf of all the children who are getting repeatedly sick now with everything going. I never heard of RSV until last year, and during a conversation with my dr this morning about getting the RSV vax he said last winter was the first time he had ever seen RSV in the general population.

Btw after talking me out of the RSV vax he looked at my chart and changed his mind. He said co-morbidities like PMR make it more important to have the vax!

UK?

Thing is, we did really well until the politicians took over so we know it doesn't have to be this way. :(
