Having the vaccine - real life stories
Thanks PMRpro. Gives an idea what to expect. Hope to hear in the next few weeks. Just turned 70 so it looks like it will be the Astra Zeneca one given by GP. Hope you will be offered one soon?
Not expecting anything before March here. Medical staff were first in line alongside over 80s in care homes. Just started on over 80s living independently I think. But there are hiccups with vaccine supplies.
Very useful thank you

This from my friend Kim, a nurse who’s had C19 twice.
Thanks, my jab was even slicker than those described, very impressed. Hoping to get Pfizer 2 well before twelve weeks🤞The articles clearly describing the make up of the various vaccines was very interesting and informative. 👌
Good to read. In Canada we have no idea when we will have the shots. Painfully Slow process.
Thank you, good to read real life stories.
Funny, I had my Covid immunization in Washington state, US. My experience was so similar to those reported in your article, it could have been the same exact location for all.
Makes me wonder if the medicine comes from the manufacturer with physical layout maps and administration directions.
Highly efficient process.
Thanks for the link, J
very informative thankyou. plse excuse lower case painful to type.
regards vax process i am a bit claustrophobic and concerned about being closed in. i will mention this to my dr regards vax appointment, if I am allowed to have one, as epipen holder.
i note that all these vax centres don't have extra ventilation, which is a massive weapon in our armoury against covid, bit concerned we all being invited into mass gatherings in enclosed spaces without additional clean circulating fresh air. some spaces are windowless.
lastly my husband and I heard on the BBC coverage that it was advisable to wear KN95 face masks now, as face coverings may not be adequate to stop the new variant; scientists, eg whitty, are not sure how it is spreading 70% faster that than the original, and the news article said KN95 masks would offer more protection than face coverings.
i would appreciate yr comments, thankyou , polly
Several countries have already made the higher grade masks mandatory in shops and on public transport. That is a choice, as it always has been, in the UK - but one that we are all free to make, the supply is now secure and the prices (here at least) not excessive. All the medical masks are preferable to a single layer homemade one - I have material masks of the sort used for the police in Vietnam which are triple layer but the hospital doesn't accept then and provides surgical masks when you go in.
Not quite sure why you are concerned about claustropobia - you will not be expected to sit in a small enclosed space as far as I know. Nor are they what can be called "mass gatherings" - patients are dealt with one at a time and all appropriately distanced. That is why the vaccines are being given only by appointment and large premises (like Litchfield cathedral) being used.
Interesting read. Thank you
Got a call for a cancellation for the vaccine two days ago. I can assure you, I felt nothing and had no after-effects. They were dispensing Moderna. I truly hope all of you get it soon. Nothing really changes but it is reassuring. 💖
