Today started so well this morning with no pain and very little stiffness then few hrs ago I was walking up the stairs and my leg/knee pain came from nowhere gave way on me and went down like a ton of bricks on my leg held hand out to stop me falling backwards on stairs and been in pain since. That will be a red flag for future even if got no pain be becareful on stairs

Ouch! If you have bruising an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel and applied to the site for 10 minutes at a time will help although that is best done soon after the incident. Paracetamol?? You reacted quickly to stop yourself falling. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Karen, that's not a good start to the year. RICE may be a good place to start, rest, compression, ice and elevation with paracetamol or Co-Codamol for the pain. If not better in a few days then probably a trip to docs. In spite of the start all the best for a better 2021.

Gave me a flashback to when I smashed my knee back at the end of May. I went to ER and no bones broken but had to wear a brace for two weeks, first week "locked" so knee didn't bend. It was pretty much better by final checkup with orthopod at seven weeks but I don't know how it would have fared without professional treatment. If you don't feel a whole lot better in two days, please get seen to. All the best. (For other reasons -different injury- ice has become my new best friend!)

I agree with HeronNS - get it checked if it doesn't improve quickly.

And is the hand/wrist OK? Am I understanding you to be saying that hurts too?

Stairs can be lethal at times. You did well to save yourself. Hope the injuries aren’t too bad but get checked out if the pain lingers.

OH is an Olympian at falling but he’s come unstuck this time and he was on the flat. Listen to your body.

Pain bad today and especially my knee and wrist from bit of a fall yesterday. Got appointment tomorrow for more bloods will check at same time. Got a black bruise just above my elbow I'm pressuming I caught it while trying on to fall downstairs. But could it be from prednisone ? My bruises dont usually go black straight away. I only just noticed the bruises so cant really be sure how long it been there

Could be - I get bruises on my shins for nothing identifiable unless it is crossing my legs above the ankles in bed at night!! But always black from the time I notice them

When my aunt was a young woman she broke her wrist playing tennis and never even knew for a few days. Your wrist hurts because you used it to save yourself and pain bad today? Please get it looked at. 🤗

Funny I have had the same thing happen and learned the same lesson. I usually don't have knee pain but one day the knee just hurt so bad and gave out on me while on the stairs.Take Care
