Not a good start to the day :(

Well I went to bed last night with a pain down mi right leg and an extra twinge in my back. Didn't feel good and I'm not sure what I did.

Usual mid sleep wake for a walk and getting out of bed was really hard, my back was now really hurting.

Woke up about 5, time to get up, but the pain was still there. So I decided that I'll have a day in bed and rest as much as I can.

Well this is the first day I haven't been to work.

Hi Julian,

Sorry to hear that but good move to rest today! Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Always a good decision to rest a day and try again tomrw. And gently does it.

Ohhhh, sorry to hear this Julian! ...but good on you, you made right decision! I hope the pain becomes manageable and you have a lovely "pain free" day!

PS - Easier said than done, but I'd thought I'd pass it along!

Steady does it Julian - it's so easy to have sprains and strains with PMR, I think because muscles and ligaments etc are suddenly much weaker than before.

In my early PMR days when on high-ish levels of Preds (15-20 mgpd) and feeling quite 'good', I had a calf strain and then a strained achilles tendon after thinking I was back to 'Action Man' fitness and tried a gentle run. Weeks of agony as a result....

“Today, I am a Sloth”. That’s what I tell myself on those days....rest and slow movement. Easy does it and feel better soon.

Thanks for all the lovely replies.

After writing this post I curled up in bed, woke a few times as one does, but didn't get up until about 3:30, slept most of the time.

Still a pain in my back, but not as bad. Nothing much planned for the weekend and I will be watching what I do and how I do it.

I have suffered with my back for years, pre PMR the pain would go after a good rest, now it needs much much more.

Many things have been learnt since I started this rocky road:

1. I'll be on predn until I'm not!

2. Tell people how I feel, the truth not what they want to hear.

3. Get others to help do what needs to be done.

4. Be myself.

I'm about a year into taking predn, over that time I've left work early twice and taken 1 day off. I have no idea how much longer I can keep going, but I will for as long as I can.

We are all different, but we all like to do something and feel needed. I know work can replace me, but I need to do it for my sanity.

Not what you're looking for?
