I agree with Jinasc, have the checks for GCA. I am very prone to eyestrain if I do a lot of close work or reading. Your project maybe playing a part - maybe you need to pace more?
Blurry and fuzzy sounds as if it needs attention pronto. I had bleary vision until I got down to 9mgs pred. Have you gone back to the optician and told him/her as they are pretty good at referral if concerned. Good luck and I’m sure you’ll get help so don’t feel too anxious, this illness can make you feel very alone at times. 🌺 x
You can see from the articles that there are other causes of blurriness post cataract surgery - and that is probably more likely than GCA unless you have any other symptoms.
My eye surgery was February 13th and 27th. I’ve only had my new script since May 22nd. Yesterday we lost power because of a terrible wind and rain storm so I didn’t contact any of my physician team.
I do have dry eyes and allergies which make my eyes feel crusty and lids feel swollen at times.
I’m down to 12 mg of prednisone now.
My blood pressure was 133/76 yesterday.
I was going to see if it would clear up this morning and if not then call my eye doctor.
I get blurry vision when I've been looking at a screen for too long too!
Have you tried the eyelid cleansing routine used for blepharitis? And do you use artificial tears for the dry eyes? I like the sort you spray on the outside of your closed eyes - very comforting.
I used the artificial tears constantly before and weeks after surgery. Then found out I was allergic to the drops for eye pressure so we eliminated them and my eyes improved. I probably need to use them more during this allergy season again.
It’s been a busy three weeks and adjusting to 12mg of prednisone is probably taking a toll on my system.
I gave my notice at work this week to be replaced.
I need to be home more with my 86 year old mom who’s memory is failing even more.
So maybe my eyes are paying for it because of the good and bad stress in my life.
Hi cd b reaction from some i drops? Trouble is u use a drug and then u have 2 use 2 more 2 counteract the side effects. Some of my i drops have burned not just stung - do get them changed if u are having more than just a mild stinging that doesn't last. Most drops drug or comfort drops cause blurring but shouldn't last
I had problems post-cataract in both eyes as the lenses fogged up and had to be YAG lasered. But blurriness is not usually a sudden thing except for a few days after the surgery in which case you put more steroid drops in. A sudden change to me signals something else going on that needs investigating eg TIA or GCA.
I agree with all the above but will just add that with changing Pred dose, the goalposts will keep changing with glasses prescription. Mine finally settled below 3mg so before that none of my lenses were quite right. I found that sustained fixed distance work upset them terribly and they were easily overused. Cataracts also don’t make your eyes any more happy with overuse, it just takes a bit longer.
If it is a sudden change since your cataracts I’d get some advice. Do you get pressures checked every few months?
I agree with all above. I had more probs after my 2nd cataract op., including a GCA scare which included truly awful headaches. The eyes take some time to adjust to the new vision. Before the ops the changes are often quite slow and we get used to them. Suddenly having much better vision is a shock to the system. My optician also advised the brain takes quite a long time to adjust too.
There is no way I could have done the close work and screen work you are doing, and even 6 months down the line I have blurry vision especially when very tired, but also have dry eye!
I would get in touch with your eye clinic or optician asap if were you. May be a rational explanation but not worth the risk otherwise.
Agree with others on here to check with your eye team or optician. I have dry eye and that can cause problems, also blepharitis that needs treatment at times. I also had these problems much worse after my second cataract operation. The blood vessels also kept bursting in that eye and I had to contact the team. It took several months for these problems to settle down. No problems at all with first cataract op!
I get blurry vision from doing close work for too long. Computer especially bad as we tend not to blink enough. My husband had a corneal transplant last year and has been complainig of blurry vision. Since being home for months he's on the computer continuously. The specialist checked him and told him transplant fine, (he's also had cataract surgery btw) but he should increase the drops used to protect the transplant (prednisolone!) and also use artificial tears several times a day.
You really need to see your eye doctor because there are so many reasons why your eyes could be blurry. It could be just a temporary situation or it could be as serious as a stroke happened and you didn't know it. Another cause is dry eye syndrome.
Hi there. I am Just about to have cataract s done sorry to here your still blurry as I was hoping for a miracle and being able to read dew and watch tv without squinting.
