Possible tapering tip

I was having great difficulty stopping prednisone-couldn’t budge below 1.5 mg. I developed a bad case of diarrhea and tried saccharomyces boulardii lyo CNCM 1-745, brand name Florastor. It’s a probiotic but somewhat different than most, as it’s supposedly active in the lower GI tract. Anyway, the diarrhea stopped, and, lo and behold, I felt quite good and tapered off the prednisone without a hitch. Of course it could be coincidence, but I’ve read articles referring to gut/immune connections, and it’s inexpensive and over the counter. So there you are.

Thanks for the info. I've tried a few probiotics but had gastro problems with them which I've put down to histamines. I'll try this one out, nothing to lose, and who knows? Hope you continue to feel well.

I tried the same probiotic, but sadly, didn’t help me at all. It’s great that it works for you. Now I’m taking one with multiple types of bacteria, don’t know if that will help either. I’ve been having bouts of diverticulitis, so that’s worse than regular diarrhea.
