Yesterday morning I went to get out of bed and vertigo struck. I had vertigo last year at this same time. But this year before the vertigo I have suffered with stomach pains and big bout of diarrhea. Could this be do to my taking from 8-7.5 mg of prednisone?
I’m calling the doctor’s office and chiropractor office as soon as they open up to see if they can fit me in as soon as possible.
I tired to find more information on the connection of vertigo and tapering but only found a few. I appreciate any advice from you all.👍

Diarrhoea CAN be an effect of low pred/cortisol but really you are at a dose above where that would be so crucial and the sudden onset sounds far more like being associated with the vertigo and/or a bug.
Saw my chiropractor and have taken 25mg of Meclizine. Hopefully this will help. I’ve been under stress a lot lately with the paperwork and calls to get assistance for my 89 year old mom in a memory care facility. Some days the pain of pmr raises it ugly head. I just try to relax and rest.
I’ll be better when all is finished and the financial aid is completed so we don’t have to bring her home and lose the$7000.00 we personally have paid over the past two months. My husband is a gem!
That is a lot on your plate...and I bet things level out. Meclizine always helped me. I keep some on hand...I find the only 'head swirly' I get now is when I'm bouncing around trying to get in the right position for the night. I keep my eyes fixed on the ceiling fan and that helps. Hopefully, things get settled with your Mom and three cheers for hubby! 💞
Probably a bug. And to add to the many joys with which this world is inflicted, gastric problems are often associated with more recent versions of covid.
Hope you feel better soon and it's nothing serious. 🍀🌺
Sorry to hear of your recent complaint, singingaloud, but I agree with HeronNS.Surely, if you had something similar last year, it is unlikely to be related to your current pred dose?
Oddly, I had a spell of vertigo when I was tapering pred for PMR. The GP suggested it could be BPPV and offered some exercises to try and 'dislodge' the crystals in my ear that were causing the problem. It gradually went away after a couple of weeks so I didn't have to go back in to have my head 'manipulated'.
I tried to think of the possibilities of why I get a bout of vertigo! But so far I’ve found no one things that I can pin down & say that’s what caused it! It seems completely without reason. Nasty, though. Take care, & hope you find help for your Mum.
Thank you all for your support. It took two days for it to pass. Only had to take one pill for the vertigo. I slept off and on Wednesday. Thursday much better and I was able to volunteer at my granddaughters elementary school.
