Today marks the start of month #3 without Prednisone. It has been a positive time. I have been feeling well. I do feel weakened, I am still walking “funny”. These two months have been quiet. I have had surgery for a Basel cell carcinoma, which was a bit stressful. All in all I feel that I will get stronger each day, I continue to focus on my health, bed at 9 up about 5 am, eat well, rest when needed..pace myself. This isolation time works good for me....Our weather here in Michigan is starting to warm up so I can get out in my yard and will start walking along Lake Michigan. All is well!

Start of month 3
This all sounds very positive. I find that the “ penguin walk” can be improved if I make a conscious effort with my posture and steps. I experienced a lot of pain in my pelvic area with PMR and I think my body has settled into a lot of unnecessarily, protective ways of moving.
Well done. They say it takes about a year after you stop pred to really feel back to normal so dont worry about feeling a bit weak still. You will get there. Not going out or at least just for exercise gives you time to rest. Good luckx YBB
Take it easy and if you still have a problem getting rid of the Penguin Walk - perhaps take look or ask for some easy, repeat easy, posture exercises. In the meantime, Nordic Walking Poles.............we found that those poles helped people with PMR and GCA and started a Gentle Walking Group - it always ended up in a cafe...........perhaps, post Covid, you might like to put out a call in Michigan to see if anyone else wants to do the same.
Stay safe and enjoy the garden.............
That's good. I would repeat jinasc advice re trying postur exercise...mine is rubbish so I have to work hard. People with a lower back problem also duck walk with feet turned out as it seems to help in short term. But not good long term! Stay safe.
Apologies. I missed that one. Yikes 🤦♀️😱
Are you sure that's the kind of walk they have?
You know what I mean..I am a combination of duck and penguin...yikes must turn the profanities exclusion button on..almost had a real duck up.
Nearly had to report you to....you😳🤦🏻♀️
😂🤣😂 fortunately as I went to press reply I noticed for once. I would have reported myself to me. 😉
😂😂😂😂💥

I put 'Duck Walk Men's Health' in the search engine. Interesting result and photos and how to exercise..................
If you put 'Penguin Walk' into your search engine - there are photos and a link to an exercise plan.
Look 🤔 and decide if you are a 🦆 ' Duck' or a 'Penguin' 🐧
Fascinating what you can find.................thought they walked the same - we live and learn.
Lovely positive post. So glad you are making isolation work for you - I suspect a lot of us are doing the same. Carry on and good luck! 😀👍
So good to hear. Am happy for you. I live in Denmark and have a son living in Ann Arbor so I know how beautiful it is in MI and near Lake Michigan. I have just reduced today to 6.25 mg. Am looking forward to being at your stage. Stay safe in these difficult times of Covid 19.
Hope you continue to improve and build your strength back. I am in Ontario and the days are starting to warm up so I can get out for a short walk at lunch. It’s great to hear the birds again.
Your report is very encouraging. Enjoy our spring in Michigan!
Such good news!!! Thank you for sharing!!
Great news ! I have just, 2 days, dropped to 3mg prednisone. I know it is early, but so far so good. Each day I walk a little further, if only a few steps.. No matter what else is going on, I tell myself, "life is good." The next few days (I live in Hill country of Texas)there is projected rain. Therefore I will walk in the house, even though Lily, dog looks at me as if I were crazy. Have a super day.
...I had a few little twinges along my path but I did not take more Prednisone. I did not want to confuse my Adrenal glands, which I pictured as trying to restart their production of Cortisol. I just did exactly what my Rheumatologist recommended. It worked for me, so far so good.
Thank you so much for sharing an inspiring post!! You are living our dream, and your words give hope. Wishing you continued healing and strength.
Hi, you did not say if you had GCA and PMR or for how long? I am down to 2 mg one day 1mg the next. Scared to get off it entirely. I am still getting big bruises if I hit something, even on such a low dose. I have been on steroids now for almost three years.
Anyway, glad you have managed to be off steroids now. It is an inspiration for me.
