Does prednisone dose in PMR patients modify severity of COVID 19?

Good day all,

I have had PMR for several years and I am on 15 mg Pred.

I have been ill with a respiratory infection for 9 days. I am awaiting Covid test results.

Prednisone is known to have immunosuppressant side effects, putting us PMR patients in a high risk category.

At the same time, it will be interesting to discover if our prednisone use may also moderate severity of the infection. Pred was used at high doses, similar to Those for treatment of GCA in SARS patients, sometimes for long periods with harmful outcomes.

PMR patients on lower doses ... will we see a modifying effect when infected, worse, or neutral?

I can understand shuffling off general chitchat about COVID to another site,

But we are as PMR patients, missing the boat if we do not take this opportunity to poll each other on such things as a) how susceptible are we really ie how many of us test positive b) how sick are we getting,

c) does dose of Pred seem to make any difference. d) are PMR patients experiencing a worsening of PMR symptoms with COVID infections..... etc

The reason we ask you to post to the covid thread is because this is a forum for pmr amd gca and we cant handle the constant repeating of questions and ask people to read the threads before they ask the same question. I will close replies to this post but you will find all the info you need on the the covid threads.YBB
