I'm am on a taper of 1 mg a month. Just finished my 4 weeks at 7mg. Getting slight aches in wrist and arm but also in my ankles. My Rheumatologist told me PMR doesn't effect the ankles at all. That it's due to my weight gain from prednisone and the COVID lock down.

PMR Decreasing My Dose of Prednisone. Anyone Have Slight Aches In Ankles?
Affected MY ankles! And that was long before Covid ...
My legs feet and ankles swell up on low doses of Pred and they're better on higher doses. No idea why but think it's partly water retention or circulation issues.
Your reply makes a lot of sense to me. Never had this problem before and it started when I dropped to 7MG,🙂 Thank you
Not my ankles but my left knee is very painful since tapering down to 8.5, and both legs swollen. Increase to 10mg reduced the swelling but not the pain. Now back to 8.5mg and paracetamol. Sleep worse then ever. Happy days. It could always be worse....
I had a swollen knee last week but it's gone again now. It seemed for about a week or so, going back on oral Pred the PMR moved around a bit. I also had aches in rib cage. Now I'm on 40 Pred my legs are great, all the water retention has gone and I'm so spritely, I'm just loving being able to walk briskly round the park for a change instead of plodding. I shall see what happens as I reduce the dose.
Somehow, everything is always our fault. Well I’m so huge and lazy that my ankles give way on the stairs! 😂
Yes, I get aches in ankles and wrists when I get too low on prednisolone. An extra mg or two for a few days seems to sort it out. No swelling as far as I can tell and it only became apparent a couple of years after diagnosis.
I too have experienced aches & pains in wrists and ankles.
This is interesting as I’ve reduced from 15mg prednisolone daily when diagnosed in February 2020 and am now on 7.5mg per day. Generally ok but since I reduced to 8mg have had real foot and ankle stiffness and pain on walking. I wasn’t sure if it is linked to PMR and a lower dose of prednisolone or just fluke. Recent blood test showed stable inflammatory markers at ESR 21 and CRP 9.5. GP didn’t make a comment except to say get back to them if it didn’t improve over time!!
About the only place , I haven’t been affected! I think 🧐
I always say that we as humans are "individuals". If you say that your ankles are hurting they are hurting. Rheumatologist should know better than to say that.
