I've been wearing support hose because I have started to have some fluid retention in my legs. I don't mean colossal swelling, I have some varicose veins, just moderate. Last Friday, I bumped my leg with the Swiffer, and that hasn't stopped draining clear liquid since. I went to a 24-hour clinic Sunday, yesterday for me, and I had three spots, all draining clear. One tear was created when the doctor took off my support hose. I have an appointment with the wound clinic tomorrow morn...but wondered if others experienced this with our 'paper-thin-prednisone-skin'~? They send me to a wound clinic because they are afraid of infection or becoming ulcerated. OK forum...👬👬👬👬👬👬👬🤜🏽🤛🏽

Are draining skin tears on the leg common too?
My legs are like that. I caught them on a small bramble recently and they leaked for over a week.
I used to....on doses down to 10mg
Yes, this can happen, even without paper skin. All you can do is soak it up, be very aware of signs of infection and keep it propped up. It’s good you’re going to get it seen to.
Yes. I have heard of this several times. One member recommended some comfy shin guards. Just about to breakfast so if it hasn't appeared later I will have a search. Oh.... And ouchy. 😘
Yes I’ve experienced this too. I wear compression stockings every day as I have heart failure and this creates fluid retention in my lower legs and feet.
When I last had leakage about October last year, my GP increased my diuretic medication temporarily and prescribed some Allevyn wound dressings which were really helpful in preventing clothes and bedding from becoming stained. Made from silicone foam they are designed for use where the skin is compromised. GP monitored it regularly to check for any infection eg cellulitis.
Once the wound had healed I found it helpful to keep the skin moisturised and have Dermol 500 on prescription for this purpose. I also use it in the shower instead of soap products.
I hope you have it under control with your visit to the wound clinic soon.
Best wishes to you.
Linda
Thanks, Linda. The wound clinic put an Unna boot on for a week, so I'll see what the three tears look like next week. I did post a photo of what I wear for compression and protection and find them so comfortable. I am terrible about moisturizing!! I've been using Aveeno but may check into the Dermol 500 if it is more effective. Why is it a prescription? It must be different than what I see online. (Since I lost the sight in my left eye, I don't drive, so online shopping is often more convenient. I am getting itchy about driving!) What is the soap product you use? I say, good luck to us all. 🌸🌸
Have had skin tears on my arms. They take awhile to heal. A bandage type product called “Tegaderm” (?) helps if they are large. Sorry you’re having to deal with these too. 🤗
Thanks so much! Good thing we can juggle, isn't it?😉
Sorry you’re having to deal with this Grammy80. Good that you seem to be monitored.
