On Saturday morning I unwittingly ate grapefruit marmalade for breakfast. At the moment I am in remission from GCA and not on predisolone. All weekend my throat area has had a burning sensation which fortunately has now subsided. Could this be due to the grapefruit marmalade? I could not eat grapefruit when I was on pred.

Grapefruit
Maybe- who knows! Are you on any other tablets?
No to the question.
How are you will other citrus fruits? Ok presumably if you eat other varieties of marmalade. Any unusual ingredients in this particular jar.
No problem. I found when I was taking predisolone my body chemistry was not right when I ate grapefruit. Up 'til then I had a lot of pink grapefruit for breakfast. I narrowed it down and grapefruit seemed to be the cause. My son had given us this for Christmas and I had not got my glasses on and it was only later I realised it was grapefruit marmalade.
I suspect its some sort of reaction to the grapefruit or another ingredient. You can develop an allergy at any time. Have you had other marmalades... Could it be the bread or butter/spread.
I saw you are not on medications now but thought it might be okay to link to an NHS site about grapefruit and meds just in case...
Are you on any other medications? There are a lot of things that don't mix with grapefruit!
No. I did not have problems with my throat previously. It was my body chemistry at that stage when I was on predisolone. As I've explained already my son had given me the jar. I've explained to him he will have to eat the rest. With all the drugs my OH takes I'm not letting him eat it either.
