Thank you all for your replies about the 2 types of shingles jabs and for PMRpro's site redirection... mmmm... all responses indicate missing this generous offer! Do GPs read the info? I have very little faith in my current GP so will tackle the surgery forewarned and, if necessary, forearmed.

Q. “Do GPs read the info? “
A. I very much doubt it!
It’s purely your choice of course, but as I said, I declined - a couple of years ago.
Having recovered from GCA I didn’t want to risk the chance of PMR being “roused” .
Haven’t been asked since!
My experience of GP’s is that they leave the vaccine stuff to nurses who deliver them. We nurses had to attend mandatory annual training in order to be able to administer them and I only saw one GP attend in 20 years of going. Even our training told us virtually nothing about side effects other than the usual common things. The leaflets with the vaccine boxes aren’t always comprehensive either.

It will have been a standard letter I imagine - but why give a patient with PMR a vaccine that lists PMR as an adverse effect?
