Hi good peops of poly, I just had a relapse , got down to 10mg, back up to 20mf, my question is my daughters dog was choking, so I got down on the floor and when all sorted , something went sort of pop in my right thigh, mahoosive pain , and I struggled to move for a minute or so, next day still pain where the poly usually is but more severe, walking with a limp and one foot stair climbing, what have I done?? Oh dramatic dog fine and dandy, lol.

Oh Dear, that sounds very painful but you could have damaged a ligament or torn a muscle.

I think you need to get a Professional Opinion to be certain.

When did you put the Pred up to 20mg?

Kind Regards

MrsN

Hi , Mrs N, thanks, I put pred up 4 days ago checked with doc first, I was suffering over new year and got fed up with struggling, leg feels like a torn muscle I must admit, just happened for very little stress so was surprised, can’t do much for torn muscles, just not annoy it further, had today off from work so gave it a chance to rest a bit, definitely less painful, can’t step up yet but I will use left leg instead, I’ve just trawled through others , questions in here, so sort of came to the torn muscle answer, thanks for the response, stay well , jules.

From the numerous sports injuries in the past whenever I have had a pop or rending feeling it has meant damage to a greater or lesser extent. In the middle of the thigh it’s likely the muscle or its sheath, at the ends could be ligament or tendon. Get someone to have a look so you get the right rehab advice so it doesn’t become a chronic niggle that pops again.

Certainly worthwhile checking with a Physio. There are some simple, but quite specific, exercises you can do depending on whether it's a quadricep (front of thigh), hamstring (back of thigh) or adductor (inner thigh). And they aren't necessarily difficult to do.

Ouch! You need to see a doctor/ the hospital. Whatever went pop could get worse.

Depends where in the thigh - inner, outer, back? Professional opinion required really.

"It just happened for very little stress so surprised". I've had bad shoulder and back muscle spasms ditto. My physio says because I have underlying inflammation with the PMR, sometimes even a normal movement will cause a huge overreaction in the muscle and it's just a question of waiting it out until the inflammation eventually subsides.

My dog lurched on the lead and tote ligaments in my shoulder. A physio got it back in action in 6 weeks. I would have waited longer for a doctor referral. If you can afford it see a good physio. They know more about ligaments and muscles

Ouch! That sudden pop sounds like a tear. I’d see a physiotherapist if you can. That’ll need treatment. Hope it heals soon!

Like others have said, professional assessment needed. In the meantime icing and rest may help.
