I'm on 17.5mg Pred and weekly methotrexate as I have GCA/ Takayasu Arteritis. I've now picked up a horrendous virus and have been in bed for 2 days. Should I miss taking my mtx this week to give my immune system some help? I did stop when I had antibiotics a while ago but I'm not on antibiotics this time as yet.

When to stop taking methotrexate

Hi Mrs Chips
I’ve been off my Methotrexate as l’ve had a ‘throat’ that headed to my chest, I’m restarting tomorrow, l’ll have been off them 10days.
Hope you feel better soon.
Kind Regards
Best Wishes for 2020
It is apparently perfectly safe and advisable to do this.
Yes , you should stop it during an infection to help with immunity .

I'm in a very similar state. My nastiest symptom is a terrible hacking cough from deep in my chest. Of course it's worse when I lie down, so much as I want to go to bed and stretch out, I'm having to prop myself up. I raised this question 3 days ago and got some useful responses - see healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk... I skipped my MTX dose on Friday and intend to do so this Friday. I have a rheumy appointment next week. I might ask why I wasn't told in the first place to avoid MTX when ill.
