For a long time, deadly fatigue has hit me every day or 2nd day about 1pm. I broke a bone in my foot 4 weeks ago, am in a non weight bearing cast ( lovely purple one) to my knee & have to keep my foot up as much as possible. The interesting thing is that with all of this enforced rest, I am no longer getting the deadly fatique.

Well - it's an interesting way to get rid of the DF!😂 However, I don't think many of us will be copying your 'cure'.
Don't copy the cast - but the effect is rather logical:
Yes rest does work.... I can only do minimal exercuse/activity due to a couple of mobility problems but find that my body is self monitoring and regulating if I allow myself to listen. Sometimes I have to spend a few days on bed rest. I used to get frustrated and angry several years ago and push myself to collapse. Then I decided if my body and mind had made me fatigued it was for a reason. After 15years I know my body will perk up and as soon as it can and I will be up and at 'em. I do maintain a stretching routine everyday that's helps keep total stiffness at bay.
Perhaps you were doing more than you think. I always tidy as I go, clean the sink when I go to the loo etc.
Every cloud has a silver lining. It is interesting though.
There's proof positive that Fatigue is helped by Pacing Yourself for all of us , although I wish you hadn't had to break a bone to do that Experiment on the Benefits of Rest . Are you adding a bit of tinsel around your cast for Christmas. Fashion by NHS ! 😋
I feel like I am like a glass. I start full, am active and empty it, rest and fill up again, literally feeling a physical recharge which enables me to be active again. After shopping I really look forward to a two hour break in the middle of the day!
