I am taking mtx 20 and pred 30 mgs. I presume I am immunosuppressed and have developed a cold sore on the end of my nose. Should i see gp as it probably herpes virus?

Yes, do see a doc as you are on decent levels of two immunosuppressants. The doc may want to put you on an antiviral if it is the herpes simplex or even shingles and rule out a bacterial infection that can cause a similar looking lesion.

If you have to wait to see the GP - get some acyclovir cream from the chemist to be going on with. I always kept a few tubes around just in case so that as soon as I felt the tingle I could use it and that really helped.

A first sign of a cold with me is a sore tingling patch at the base of one nostril. If I act quickly with a cold sore cream, I can keep it contained. The first time I left it, it developed into a really nasty sore that left scarring. You may want to get something on prescription as you are immusuppressed.
