nose bleed

I have hardly ever had nose bleeds in my life, and had 3 this week, no reason I can think of, could it be related to pred use or just a random unrelated thing?

Because pred has so many effects its tempting to blame it for everything, but some things would have happened anyway .....

Very true... but sometimes it is down to Pred..

Pred can make capillaries in the skin/mucosa delicate and once you have had one nosebleed the damaged bit of blood vessel can easily break again. No blowing or rubbing your nose for a few days. If it persists - you may need to get the area cauterised. Your GP may do it.

When you have posted - always have a quick look at Related Posts, almost always provides some reading for the interim!!

Now that would make life too easy - as PMRpro has said the search option gives very obscure results most of the time,

I had the same problem when I was over 10mg. I found it happened when I was in bed for some reason. The sheets looked dreadful!! No problems since or before, very strange.

I also had nose bleeds at doses above about 5 mg. Never had one before. The nose bleeds stopped with pinching the nose. Also lots of random unprovoked bruising on legs and arms. No nose bleeds at lower doses. So I think pred was the culprit. as pmrpro said 'delicate capillaries'...in fact "delicate" would be a good description of my whole body!

Sadly, I often have nose bleeds - in just the one nostril. I can not remember what caused the first one and haven't identified a pattern other than a bad headache afterwards. Twice cauterized and not blown my nose on that side since. Can come out of the blue -sometimes when first woken up. Got used to pinching nose for 15 - 20 mins, ice on bridge of nose if really bad and again, if bad, a plug smeared with vaseline so that it comes out without causing more problems. I hate white towels and bedding - never have them at home!!
