Every since my muscles and joints began loosening up after taking prednisone, my neck sounds like a bowl of rice crispies whenever I turn it. Thought maybe it had something to do with prednisone but now that I am tapering, it’s not changed. Anybody else have this? Or know why it is occurring? No pain, just a lot of snap crackle and popping particularly in the morning when waking up.

Snap, crackle, pop
I have had crepitus (snap, crackle, pop) for several years but often with pain involved as I have OA in my spine from top to bottom and now my neck sounds like a door in a haunted house.
However, without pain it's meant to be nothing scary when it pops and crackles. I had pre-existing spinal issues when mine first started and got x-ray etc to DX OA. So it's always worth having your neck checked. There's not much they do if it's OA. 15yrs later I refuse to go back as the last x-rays said not ready for surgery yet....my answer ..no neck surgery until my head falls off!!
I get this. The diagnosis was Cervical Spondylosis. It pre-dates PMR and I believe it was caused by poor posture and computer use in my job. I used to think, with my head hanging back 🤷🏼♀️.
You might find some relief with some gentle rotation exercises of your neck a few times a day , especially if you spend alot of time at a desk or a computer .
Do you take supplements , including Omega 3 ?
It is a sign that you are getting much better when you start to worry about small things :). For me those crackles are release of a accumulated tension in your neck, and nothing to worry about. Perhaps some stretching of the neck/upper back is in order. For me, every morning I go to children playground and find spot that resembles parallel bars, which I use to stretch upper back/neck ; I will hear the sound and feel relief, unless there is too much tension stored in that area.
I'm currently on 8mg and started to experience this sensation in my neck as well as cracking noise in wrists, elbows etc. GP said due to PMR inflammation and other patients had complained of similar symptoms. She recommended glucosamine. I've been taking this for about a month and witnessed a big improvement so worth a try?
i am completely off prednisone but have a crinkly neck stiff really.i am going to go to physio as it is very bothersome
