Help for groin pain

After posting off and on for several months about groin pain and trying pred increase to no effect the answer has proven to be a hip inpingement. I was fixed up with a steroid shot given by a Dr of radiology. No pain!! It has been several months of pain and I was beginning to feel quite desperate. Also I had hurt my shoulder while gardening and that is finally gone. I am writing on my Spring calendar for next year to be more careful in the yard. I have been reluctant to go to the Dr lately as it's so discouraging sometimes. Took an Ortho to sort it. Also my knees were aching but walking is helping them. My poor bodies been a wreck. From usual 50% of activity I'd say I'm at 70% currently.

Increasing oral pred rarely helps bursitis - so it is always worth getting such pain checked to see if they can identify something like bursitis or impingement

70% activity! That's great! This is about my 7th month of pmr/gca onset. I finally went on prednisone beginning of April but now doing a taper. I feel like I'm only at 10-20% of what I used to be. I hope I'm not lagging behind everyone else on the activity scale. Good idea of leaving you a future memo for next Spring!

I find having some percentage number helps me chart how I'm doing. It's not just about pain numbers but for me whole life activity. I had many early days of 20%. Thrilled to be at 70% for however long it may last.

That's a good idea about percentage numbers. I hope you stay at no less than 70% for a long time to come!

I am still waiting for results of my hip xrays for groin pain. Like you upping pred didnt help but neither did pain killers!! I had steroid injections in to my shoulder when I first damaged it and the results were great and lasted for a decent amount of time. I am glad you are getting some relief at last.

Hope you get some answers. Not knowing can be very wearing as is constant pain even if low on the pain scale. If the shots didn't help I was going for an MRI to look for a tear. Hope I have my answer.

How did you make out about your groin pain. I've been suffering with this groin for a while now. PT is painful - I feel a shot would definitely help!

I was told it was wear and tear and i had a steroid injection under ultrasound and within a day felt the difference! since then I have had no pain.

My pain was coming from tight muscles. Pt helped but I stopped after awhile as I felt there was too much repetition which will hurt us in the long run. I now do on my own twice a week. I notice now when I wake up that it is my groin that is hurting before I take my predisone. My hips have always been more problematic that my arms. I've been at this 3 years 8 months. Now at 6/5.5

I also think my groin pain started because I overdid it at exercise class.

I agree too -mine are from tight muscles. I do sit at work mostly all day. I'm so aggravated not being able to just jump up like I used to do. I'm still doing PT a couple times a week but it is painful. My groin and butt pain generally are worse in the morning. I slept with a heating pad on the area last night and felt much better this morning! :)

Looking into alternative treatments down the road which include the shot and active release/Gaston technique. We'll see!

Hope you're coming along well.

Unfortunately the shot didn't help but pt and time have. This whole journey does weird things to muscles. Hope you do better.
