PMR hit my legs

ffirst-- behind my knees and down the calf. I am on 5 mg. and my legs still feel different. Have some neuropathy and psoriasis on my lower legs. Get twinges of pain like a bite etc. That must be the nerves acting up. stonecreek

I have been told that I may have Psoriatic Arthritis and that Methotrexate would be a useful addition to my PMR Prednisalone. Have they explored this with you?

My Psoriasis is confined to my feet currently.

Thanks for the input. It all helps. This started after my last visit a few months ago. My next appt. isn't till July!! I may call and see if I can go sooner. Is there a blood test for the psoriatic arthritis?

No not a definitive blood test. They will look for inflammatory levels in the blood just like for PMR/GCA. They will also eliminate Rheumatoid Arthritis with blood tests. It is important to address this condition quickly as it progresses and can cause heart problems. My lovely Rheumatologist says ask any Rheumatologist if they would rather take Prednisalone or Methotrexate and they would always choose Methotrexate. This patient is still sitting on her hands. ☹️

Hmm - wonder if they would if they really had to take it? But it is the insistence on combining it with pred for us that is the big question mark as far as I'm concerned

It was Sarah though!

Are you sure you aren't just trying to control that immobile finger from the other day....

Sorry to confuse you stonecreek. It was a reply to sheffieldjane. If you look at the top of each reply there is the name of the sender, a little arrow and the name of the person the message is primarily for. People will have conversations within conversations. Sometimes it can get confusing when you are new. My apologies for any confusion.🌻

PMR is just the name for the symptoms - and psoriatic arthritis can cause similar symptoms. Most rheumies with a ?PMR patient with any possibility of psoriasis would be on to that like the hounds of hell.

Thanks So is this a separate dx from PMR? I am also getting itching on my scalp around both ears. Also, my legs get like cement and my calves get large on some days. Think diet has to do wth that. Found fresh pineapple to be a good ant-inflamitory. also get soft lumps on the base of my neck, both sides. That is worse some days than others.

Psoriatic arthritis is, yes.

thank you! so what is the next step?

Mentioning the possibility to a rheumy I'd have thought if he isn't aware of your history. I've never had psoriasis in my life - but an aunt did. So the rheumy I saw was desperate to make my PMR psoriatic arthritis and if it couldn't be that it was something else - PMR as beneath him was the impression created.
