In some cases.... yes!
Very often depends on initial GPs's knowledge of both illnesses - which is very patchy it would appear. But getting better thanks to the work of PMRGCAUk charity, and individual patients.
I would hope my original GP or surgery would never miss a diagnosis of GCA again!
