I am down for the above and not sure if it's a good idea owing to thin skin.

Anyone had a Sygmoidoscopy?
Do not know what that is, but for skin thinning your GP can prescribe Double Base Gel.
This then means you drop soap etc. If he does not want to do it, which he should. You can buy it OTC and try it....
I was told about it by a fellow sufferer, tried it and it works,,,,,,,10 years later skin still good.
My dad had a couple. He had COPD so was constantly on steroid, nebuliser and also had warfarin. He has really thin skin that ripped whenever he caught it in the slightest and bleed forever. But He followed all the preparations and was fine, no damage or bleeding at all. Good luck🌻
Thank you
I have had quite a few Colonoscopies, same procedure, just different area of the bowel. They will be aware of your medication but in the prep before your procedure you will get a chance to tell them of your history and concerns about your skin. I had absolutely no issues despite also being on anticoagulant therapy as well as hefty steroids and having thin , prone to bleeding, skin. If you are still concerned you could always speak to your GP ahead of the day.
I expect it’ll be fine because they do these investigations via the rectum on people with haemorrhoids. They will also make an assessment for bleeding risk amongst other things before the procedure. Also, it would be good to know what is going on up there sooner rather than later and you could be waiting a long time for the skin to be perfect.
My husband has had radiotherapy that led to thinned and delicate internal areas that bleed - and is having regular sigmoidoscopies to cauterise the damaged area. Tell them - they know what to do.
Yes I had a sigmoidoscopy three years ago to remove a polyp from the sigmoid colon, the part of the colon just after the rectum. I had a follow up colonoscopy two days ago. Because of my propensity to have bad reactions to common drugs I was not sedated for the colonoscopy, nor did I use Entonox, though it was there if I need it..
The sigmoidoscopy was done as an outpatients appointment on a Sunday afternoon. I was prescribed a liquid laxative which I took at home the day before, then went to the hospital. I was given a hospital gown, then an enema and after it had worked the bed I was in was wheeled to the room where the procedure took place. A surgeon put a thin tube with a camera at its tip into my rectum and about 6 "and then the polyp was lassoed by a thin knife which came out near the end of the tube and it cut through the polyp and cauterised the wound. I didn't feel a thing. Then the bed was wheeled into a recovery room. I was given a hot drink. 30 minutes later I was getting dressed and was discharged.
