Prednisone 30 mg runny nose and stomach

I have been on 30 mg prednisone has anybody had a side effect of runny nose and stomach issues where almost like diarrhea but not diarrhea

If so what have you done

The runny nose might mist be a mild cold. Higher dose Pred got rid of any hay fever. Upset tummy, very much so. I used to take my Pred at 5:30pm (long story) and every morning on the loo I had diarrhoea or very loose. Any other visits to the loo later on we’re normal. It got progressively better as the dose lowered. I would keep an eye on it though, perhaps do a food diary, check for blood and colour, to see if there are any patterns.

You always need to take Prednisalone with a protected stomach. Some people take Omeprazole ( it didn’t suit me) I have always taken mine with plain organic yoghurt and a little local honey. My tummy problems have been minimal but are sometimes present, I describe it as a slightly unhappy stomach, with frequent bowel movements. I have slightly allergic symptoms of a sniffly nose that sometimes blocks when I am in bed. I have prescribed nose drops that help and dry eyedrops ( preservative-free) on prescription. As I taper down these symptoms have become much milder.

Are you taking any other medications as well?

Only thing I am taking is 30mg of prednisone

Then it must be pred!!

I ALWAYS take my prednisone right after my breakfast; that is, don’t take it on an empty stomach!

You might also read about silent acid reflux. Symptoms include stomach upset and sinus issues.

Did look up silent acid reflux definitely do not have any of those symptoms

That’s good! Just wanted to bring it up....but glad it doesn’t affect you as it would mean lifestyle/diet changes.....and we PMR-ers have enough of that already!
