Since my last flare (9 days ago) I've had itchy skin on my arms and chest. The flare was quickly under control and I'm gradually getting back down to where I was. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

Does anyone have itchy skin
Must be an allergy to the forums You are about the 4th person this week to mention itching!!!!!
Strangely, I too have been feeling itchy! It's in the evenings and during the night, around my torso mainly (it's not shingles). Haven't changed my soap or clothes wash. What can it be - can there be some psychic/electronic force at work?!
I had terribly itchy skin for a long time, but in my case it was my legs, especially at the back of my knees. I have been experiencing a flare of sorts during the last 3 weeks or so, and the itching has returned, but not nearly as badly. I've found that Aveeno products really help to relieve the itching. I use the baby bath wash for bath and shower plus the adult moisturiser.
Yes. I use a base cream that contains menthol recommended by Blearyeyes I think. It worked immediately. Nothing to see ever it was even on my face and scalp. Only at night, and only now and then.
I have a rash all over from Pred. Slightly itchy but mostly just looks like a suntan. It disappeared when I was briefly below 5mg but I've a flare now and back to 10mg. The rash returned next day.
I've had spells of really itchy back but no rash. Also had itchy scalp which was driving me mad. Used sensitive shampoo and that's helped relieve itching but not helped my poor hair which has thinned with pred. 🙄 Can't win eh?
It does drive you mad. 😱 My hair thinned but started to improve when I got to 5mg.
If you are using enteric coated, then wash the dye off before you take them.
That dye can cause itching...............
Oh, I didn't know that. I've been taking them since 2017. Thanks for that info
Yes, itchy skin with no rash over my upper arms mainly. I have suffered this for perhaps about ten years before developing PMR and often associated with the start of winter and a 10 hour hop from the UK to Florida. It usually goes away after a few days, say up to ten days. I am now a year into PMR and still occasionally have "itchy skin" (good name, thank you) again only for a few days. I am convinced that they are related.
My skin dries out visibly on a long haul flight!! Despite drinking loads of water. And if I'm stupid enough to let soap near my body immediately before flying it is 10 times worse.
You are not alone I am new to PMR and found the itching was troubling me try Johnson's baby oil only use small amount and gently it helps a lot
Yes I have itching under armpits and between toes chemist recommended Daktarin cream and it works for me.
I have had an itchy back so bad I couldn't bear cloth touching it. Someone on this forum recommended Doublebase Gel I get it from the pharmacy no prescription. OH rubs it on my back every morning. No more itching. Was even good for my red nose when I had a cold.
I have an itchy arm and left shoulder it start with a tingle no rash but dives me mad. Then a tiny spot appears and itches even more. No one else including the DR can see it till I’ve made it sore. I scratch in my sleep. I’ve used all sorts but it did go under 4mg Pred. Unfortunately my Pred reduction hasn’t worked and I am increasing again.
Itching has nearly driven me mad this winter. There doesn’t seem to be a rash, just very itchy chest, arms, stomach and sometimes thighs. I’m in the US and I use Cerave or Cetaphil dermatologist recommended creams. It helps some.
The person who posted about the Double base gel called it an invisible rash. If I itch anywhere else I slap on the gel straight away it does seem to work well. The itching gets worse as I reduced. I think mine is connected with steroid reduction.
I use double base moisturiser all over my body , daktarin for my toes , Hydromol bath and shower emollient and sometimes I top up with E45 intense recovery fast acting24 hour spray moisturiser . Seems to keep the itching at bay .
