Happy in Sweden. But taper info needed!

I made it. Flight was easy and here we are safe and sound. My costochondritis appears to be LEAVING me. So now my question is how to taper back to where i was before the chest pain. I was at 7.5 mg and when I got the new disease I upped the prednisone to 9.5 which maybe helped as a placebo..along with the actual help of tylenol. But now my question, after a few weeks of 9.5 is how fast can I drop back down to where I was before this_? With grandboys again! Just bought the Godisaffär ..the candy store!.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I am definitely no expert but my guess is to do it like any other taper. Rather slowly.

Delighted to see that costochondritis is leaving you. Good timing for your holidays with those lovely boys. 👏👏 Leaving it to the experts for advice on your taper. Enjoy every minute of your holiday

Hi, Personally I would be inclined to stay at that level until you are back home! You are in a different environment which although lovely with family also brings its own stresses. Plus you have the journey back to consider.

Once you’re home then there’s plenty of time to start tapering again. You may be able to go slightly quicker than last time, but let your body tell you.

See how you feel at the end of the first month then - but don’t push it and end up going backwards.

Oh yogabonnie they are beautiful and they look like you, what a fine picture, my idea of heaven. I would do modest drops and take my time. I suspect that Pred was doing more than a placebo effect. You’ll be busier in a lovely way and may need the support. Have a lovely time, when you are over the journey you could try dropping by 1 mg. You are there for a while aren’t you. I don’t usually taper when I go to Australia to see my blonde boys, blonde girl and tall dark and handsome eldest grandson who is 10 on 1/11.

I'd try 1/2mg at a time - do 1/2mg and stay there for a week and see how you feel. Then re-assess.

Have a lovely time - in the great scheme of things feeling good while you are there is far more important than reducing!

Lovely children. We can cope with all sorts when we have days like this to share with family. No comment on the taper sorry. I am trying to get down myself just 0.5mg a week from 8mg as I feel just about ok. The fear is as soon as you start to taper it will come back but how do you know unless you try. I’d say take it slow and listen to your body.

I wouldn't reduce while away but if you have to try .5mg - only if you have no symptoms at all - but remember, as has already been said, you will be more active with those gorgeous boys and then the journey back, is it worth it? Whatever you do keep it slow and slow even when you get back, it saves the yo you effect. Have a great time!!!
