My last post ( 6 months ago) was to state that rheumy considered the PMR activity in my body was relatively inactive but to remain on maintenance dose of 5mg until seen again.
Fast forward to to 5th Sept--I had blood tests, doctor's appointment and nurse re-dressing (I don't mean telling them off!) my lymphoedemic legs---in the midst of all this broohaha I totally forgot to take pred, not realising until much later in the day,(Stranger still-- I felt no stiffness/pain from shoulders/hips). Having previously been informed that my legs were unlikely to improve with the triumvirate of PMR, Diabetes2 and overweight, I decided to gamble and,not take pred for a few more days to gauge my body's reaction. I was extremely lucky and had no adverse reaction, even though all my previous attempts to reduce to 4mg had met with pain & stiffness.
This was monitored by my GP (who had placed me on my 5th different type of anti-biotic in 3 months for leg infections). Fortunately, this treatment has left with dry legs for the first time in 2.5 years.
In the subsequent month I have remained pred-free; still have dry legs; have been able to reduce insulin consumption by 50% AND have lost 3kg of weight!. GP suggested having a go at the National Lottery!!!

This sounds like the time was right. What a blessing! I hope that this is it. Have you ever had your Adrenals checked? I reckon you’d know if your Adrenaline levels were below par. Glad all the nasties are going/gone. 🌷
GP has been keeping a close eye on all things kidney/liver as I only have one kidney due to renal neoplasm and radical nephrectomy 24.5 years ago. So far fluid tests OK and BP is approx 140/75.
So pleased to hear your great news, well done for your sensible approach, and losing 3kgs.,of weight too,l would certainly have a go on the lottery,Good Luck!
Good news indeed, accidental or not. Time will tell if indeed the PMR has burned itself out. For your sake I hope so. Congratulations on the weight loss, lowered medication and dry legs. Hope it all continues for you!
