1) I've had a sore throat and laryngitis on and off during the last 21 months of treatment. My voice suddenly just goes all croaky.
2) It's taken me 7 months to go from 7 - 6 mg due to stressful events. I left caring but joined a consultancy in London which has been hectic.. I have also been struggling on and off with flu like symptoms but the worst is the 'hot flushes' - I feel like I'm going through menopause again.
Also has anyone had any results from taking the bi-carb?
Thanks

I had a sore throat and wonky voice with PMR. It improved a bit on pred. They are listed amongst GCA symptoms - but could also be due to silent reflux. Is it just since being on pred? Have you spoken to your GP about reflux?
Oh thanks - no I haven't but the thought has crossed my mind. I had quite inflamed gut before been diagnose. I have that cough - like needing to clear my throat too.
I will discuss it - just don't want to take PPI's because I already have low B12.
Prior to diagnosis of GCA I had quite a few months of a voice that would go croaky for no apparent reason and sometimes just feel a bit like I was on the verge of getting a sore throat. I thought it was due to acid reflux but taking meds for that didn’t help. Was never bad enough to go to the GP. Once on Pred it stopped and when I did get acid reflux with the Pred it didn’t happen. I found this range a tricky dose reduction and felt like I was coming down with a flu-like illness. How you are working with this I have no idea; I couldn’t.
I'm super tough! Hahaha - just joking. Some days I don't know - last few days I also feel like someone has used a huge syringe and sucked half my blood out.
My croaky voice / sore throat started when I started on Pred.
I thought we hadn’t heard from you for a bit. I discovered that my voice had gone when I tried to sing to my grandson. It’s a good job I never became Kate Bush.
I also struggled between 7 mgs and 6 mgs, it took two failed attempts and many months. I think the thermostat goes, big time, at this level too.
You sound very busy. I hope you are getting enough rest. It must make the symptoms loom large.
Do you think you voice issue was from PMR or Pred? Did it improve?
I wonder if the hot flushes are anything to do with the adrenals?
I really struggled in the beginning - mainly because the girl handing over to me was mean and disorganised. The travelling was also hard. Who would have thought at this age and with PMR I would start a new job at a top consultancy in London.
It has all become easier - but I am tired and the massive flushes at work are problematic 😳.
I basically lol around at night doing the bare minimum and at weekends the couch is my friend.
I think I may be less croaky, but I’m not called upon to sing much. I can only think of a desk fan and running your hands and wrists under the cold tap periodically. Winter will probably take care of it. Breathless with admiration upon the career move. All power to you!
Hi I'm on 3mg and trying to reduce to 2 and a half, sometimes its quite embarrassing when I go to speak and I'm croaking but it isn't all the time and the hot sweats aren't all the time either
