I'm down because I have been ill. For the 4th time in 3 years plus. I lost the use of my legs. Suddenly going to bed. I couldn'the climb the stairs. My body wanted to but my brain was shut away. I phoned an ambulance and 2 hours later they appeared. I was cold aNd by that time hauled myself up to the kitchen. They did all the tests then and all ok. I am worried. Could you give me your views on this please. Thank you in advancexx

This must have felt terrible and very scary ! I am unsure myself what would cause this but obviously your doctors need to find out the cause(s) as this was a very serious 'event'. I hope you get some proper answers soon and can hopefully prevent this happening anytime again.
All good wishes to you morrison !!

That must have been so horrible. Is there someone close you could call to help you? Having to wait that long for an ambulance is awful. I have no answers except to advise you to get to your doctor's asap. Losing the use of mobility is nothing to take lightly, it is one of my biggest fears. Sending you soft hugs and hoping for quick results.
Awful thing to happen, hope you get some answers soon. Sending you lots of sympathy and a big hug.
Another thing to contend with Morrison and could do without. It's good the ambulance said you were okay at the time. It could be something or nothing underlying but you need to get it checked out with your GP for piece of mind. xxxx
Golly gosh, not surprised you’re feeling down. Um, when the 999 crew said everything was ok, were your legs completely fine by then? Obviously things are not ok, or it wouldn’t happen; someone needs to take a look properly. Sadly, if the call went through as a ‘fall’ or a ‘can’t get up’ for chronic mobility reasons, it is not given a blue light and ‘real’ (?) emergencies are given priority. I would have thought that sudden loss of mobility in someone who is ambulant is not in that category! Perhaps you need an assistance call button or always have a mobile with you. Could you feel your legs when they went off-line?
So scary. Please see your dr. ASAP and let us know what he says,
You have been going through so much Janette. My guess and it’s only a guess, is that you feel you can’t go on sometimes and your body just expressed it. Of course we catch every bug going with a compromised immune system and viruses can be quite sinister. Sometimes though, there is almost a poetry in the way our bodies express anguish. Like “ I can’t shoulder the burden” or “ I am trapped” or “ I am suffocating”. You, my sweet girl, just couldn’t go on, for that day. Sending you a loving hug. Xxxx
Are you on methotrexate? I'm asking as a similar thing happened to my brother when he was on it, affecting not only his legs but whole body.
Oh so sorry your going through this. Let us know how you are doing - a scary th ing to have happened to you. Very best wishes.
Ohhhhhhh Morrison, I'm so sorry to hear this. I have no idea what this could be? I am sure you will receive some good responses here though.. I'll light a candle and keep you in my thought and prayers today. Are you alone or is there someone with with?
So sorry Morrison to hear this. It must have been so scary for you! I too have no answers but just send you love and prayers and hope that you will soon get some answers when you seek professional medical advice.
Could this be a really bad flare? The day I was diagnosed with PMR I8mths ago and had been feeling weak with no stamina for about a year, then, woke up one morning unable to stand or raise my arms. GP recognised symptoms straight away. Was given ored and haven't looked back!! Maybe you have had an acute 'attack'. Hope it has resolved with a bit extra pressure anfd you are feeling a bit better. 😀
Have you had your CRP (c-reactive protein) levels checked? Extreme inflammation can be dibilitating. Very scary indeed!
I am not sure that is always true. When I had my hip op my CRP went up to 415, so I was not allowed home but I felt fine. Twiddled my thumbs and played with my iPad until it went down again.
That should have read, a bit extra pred!!!!
Sorry Morrison that you have had such a scary experience ,this PMR does seem to cause a lot of unexpected problems, sending you love and hugs, and hoping you will be OK from now on.xx
This happens to me two or three times a year, but I collapse and am “out” for as much as two to three minutes. If it happens in public someone always calls an ambulance, which usually means a 10 day stay in hospital (4 times in 2 1/2 years (this is in Germany)!!! They check everything possible and have never found out what causes it!!! If it happens at home my OH copes very well (although he is 83) and I am in bed about 2 days.
Try not to worry! It hasn’t killed me yet so I plod on.
Kindest regards from Constance.
