Hi. I’d so love to go to one of these, but the Midlands one is too far away. Is anyone else in Worcestershire and interested in forming a group?

Is the one in Rugby too far?

The one in Church Stretton would be the closest I think - it was in abeyance but had a meeting on Monday 3rd September.

And Coventry would be closer than Rugby - it meets monthly but is still a fair way, 48 miles with a car.

Yes. I’d seen Church Stratton. It’s too far for me to get to, participate in and get back From im afraid. I hoped there could simply be some others who live nearer to me

You could ask the GP practice if there are other PMR patients (no names, just to see if it is worth a bit of effort) and ask for permission to put up a poster asking if anyone is interested. You could ask the practice if contacts could be notes handed in to the practice or set up an email address specifically for PMRBewdley or something. A meet-up just needs a tablet booked somewhere - several groups just do that. Even 2 people meeting is a start.

I don't know I'm afraid - nor it appears do they! They had a meeting on the 3rd September and will now arrange further meetings which they will annouce here:

If you contact them with your details they will notify you directly.

Are you a member of the charity (pmrgca.org.uk)? Contact them and ask for some posters for the local GP surgeries and the Rheumatology Out Patients waiting areas of your local hospitals. You would need to give either a dedicated mobile phone number or email address for people to get in touch (not your personal ones).

There is a page on the website 'Groups' with a link to send an enquiry if you're interested in finding out about setting up a group. The charity will give you information and support.

Two of us met at one of the Rheuma Research Roadshows last year and set up the group that meets in West Yorkshire. Our next meeting has 18 promising to attend! It's not difficult - just find a free venue, preferably with access to drinks and food and you're away!

Good Luck!
