Are these symptoms upon tapering down to 6.5 mgs?
Where are you in your GCA/PMR journey?
5 years into pmr.
Tired heavy legs and arms for over 8 months some days better than others ,been on 6.5mg for over 6 months.
That is a long time to put up with the tired heavy legs symptom. Did you reduce from 7 mgs to 6.5 mgs 6 months ago? I am fairly stuck at 7 mgs but I feel better than you mobility wise except in this hot U.K. weather today, I have to say. 7 mgs has been my first sticking point for a reduction, however my symptoms seem to be much more related to the Adrenal Function than PMR pain and stiffness. Has your doctor done any investigations on your circulatory system for instance? Just to ensure that nothing else has joined the party.
Finally, have you tried upping your dose a little to see if the symptom is related to PMR inflammation. I know that none of us wants to do that but it may just do the trick. You are still within the median period for PMR to be active.
I have upped pred dose to 10mg but not much changed.
Rheumi just thinks it's steroid myopathy and things will improve also was advised to take 1 x ibuprofen at night which I must say does work as I feel fine in morning after taking it night before but I am reluctant to take ibuprofen every night.
Don't get me wrong I'm not in agony or unable to do things it's just annoying.
If a painkiller the night before, helps, it does suggest that this symptom is not PMR pain. I wonder if a physiotherapist might be helpful in giving you exercises to combat the muscle weakness?
