Healing sunshine🌞

Hello everyone,

There is a small Buddhist monastery near our house in Northern California that welcomes people to come, sit, have tea, and soak up the peace. Yesterday was a perfect day to rest there for awhile.

Sunshine, wind singing in the trees, bird songs —perfect RX for PMR/GCA worries.

No, but have often walked past it when out walking and it seems a lovely quiet place.

Lovely, feel calmer just looking at the picture and thinking about it. Tea as well just perfect.

It does look restful.

This sounds really lovely Mstiles,l wish there were a place like that near me.There is a place near where l grew up,Granchester Orchard, near Cambridge,a beautiful tranquil place, especially this time of year when the apple blossom is out,and the little birds come really close to eat crumbs from the tables.l always think of it whenever l feel a bit stressed.lt is certainly good for us to enjoy those moments.

Yes, I’ve got some places like that I “go to” in my head when I need to relax and stop thinking about troubles. Lots of apple blossoms on the farm where I grew up.

That sounds perfect Mstiles. I have a Buddha statue in my garden under a maple tree and a water feature nearby. It was a perfect haven until they starting cutting paving stones next door. The most vexatious noise ever, from 8 am. I envy you your monastery. I always seek them out on holiday, such peaceful places.

How great to have your haven right outside your door, hopefully the noise will end soon!

Hi Mstiles, I am a practising Buddhist on the other side of the pond. We have a Temple in Chelmsford, Essex where we welcome people to come and sit. We have meditation and healing sessions open to all, whether Buddhist or not. We also have a sister Temple in Los Angeles (Dari Rulai Temple) its called) and various other Temples and shrines dotted around the USA, Ireland and UK.

It has kept me "sane" whilst dealing with this PMR journey. Meditation and sitting in a calm space really helps reset the anxiety meters :D

Yes, the anxiety created by this illness and the prednisone has been really difficult for me. Just being at the monastery and soaking up the calm energy and surrounded by nature helps me so much, even if I’m not meditating. Nature has always been my church. I’m a beginning meditator. I’ve been using Deepak and Oprah’s free streaming meditations.

I love your expression “nature has always been my church”. I can relate 100%. It just resets the brain and unscrambles all the disharmony.

Take care.

Good on you!!!!!

SERENDIPITY DAY,, After trying to convince Pharamcist Tech. that I needed to remain on 15mg as pain had come back in last 2 weeks, I rang surgery and got an app. this am. with Duty Doc, yesterday first one was 23rd. Oh joy, was with one I had been told by another patient sitting next to me in waiting room that he is wonderful, diagnosed her problem after years others didn't get it (some joint prob), anyway he shook hands as soon as he came to call me . Good sign. Said he believed patient knew how they felt, and shouldn't go down unless pain free. Gave me a loose plan and a perscription, instead of waiting until evening of second day.

I said I was worried as BP very high, had taken candesarten for 6 years came off in 2014 as always normal.

I was told to lie back in chair, close my eyes, take deep breath count to five, let out to count of seven, picture a green field in Devon, the sun is warm, the sky is blue, the birds are singing, He was watching the monitor all the while after five mins or so, took reading, and MAJIC it was back down to old normal reading 133/71. Told me to meditate as he did for five mins several times a day, and works for him.

Plus he is an orthopaedic surgeon and was intrigued by my semi numb foot as a result of an slip with the knife when I had my first knee replacement in France 2013. Has asked me to book him for a morning so he can do some tests. I was given a CD with treatment given at the time I was in Kine (Physio) Hospital for two months.

So, after synching myself up to face usual brick wall. I came away on cloud nine. For relief over taper and BP my greatest gain was been advised to meditate

I do hope he wasn't an angel on an away day, and I will book for his orthopaedic assessment. As you had all posted re Mstiles lovely garden with Buddha, just about to close my eyes........ah I'm In Devon.

Seems like magic doesn’t it! What a lovely image, a green field in Devon. So glad it worked for you, and in only 5 minutes. Just the right doc at the right time.

If meditation does that for you, I'm a convert. Weather helps, so if it rains in Cheshire I will transport to Devon. X

When I think back, I was in there for 45 mins, so must have been away for more than 5 mins, just seemed like it. hmm! even better.
