When I explain the energy thing to folks, I use the term "units of energy" and not "spoons". I think the word spoons is a bit confusing - like what do spoons have to do with anything? JMHO

You aren't familiar with the "The Spoon Theory"

One of the links here

healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk......

Christina Miserindo DOES explain the role of spoons - not just for PMR but for any chronic illness.

I suppose we are all spoonies yes - but you can only stash so many spoons for tomorrow and it isn't very many!!!!

My only problem with the "Spoon Theory" is actually thinking about it! The spoons keep bending and are'nt as effective. Maybe I'll have to stop concentrating so hard and just relax!?!?... (and won't stress so much so I need as many spoons?). Hmmmm...have I just re-invented the wheel?

Anyone here know how many spoons laughing costs?

Since landing on this website I'm finding myself almost permanantly - (thanks insight329) -forked.

They say laughter is the BEST medicine.

The local hospital has Comicus Medicus (clowns visiting patients like what's'is'name in the film) - I hope they never send me one! Never did find clowns funny...

in reply toPMRpro

Never understood the appeal of clowns either.

Not coulrophobia at least - but really, WHY?

For me it works in reverse. If I go over on my spoons then my body actually subtracts spoons for a couple days. I never find I have extra to use in the future-wish that were true though!

Same here. If I go over my spoons, I'm forked. (So sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

Watch out - you're so sharp you might cut yourself (as my mother would have said ;-) )

That made me laugh! Don't you love it when you can hear your mom's words responding to something? Unless it's "YOUNG LADY" - aka "you are in trouble".

But they are really slightly different things - which is why I have both together in a link ;-)

I used all my spoons and more on Sunday, looks like I have a full set again today :)

Most of them will be gone by the time I get home from work, just not enough spoons in a day and when something comes along that is unexpected you overuse and suffer.

It’s simple really daworm, the spoons are a simple visual way to explain to non pmr sufferers how your illness affects your day, and if you’re lucky enough to have some left over, then I’ll take them off your hands lol. I could do with some more energy (spoons) by lunchtime 😂
